  Field Day Fun
Forestdale Families,
We hope that you are enjoying this gorgeous start to the Memorial Day holiday weekend! Yesterday was another joy-filled day at Forestdale (you know there is joy here every day!), as we enjoyed a picture-perfect Field Day. The weather was beautiful as students, families, and staff came together to enjoy collaborative games and lots of fun! A special shout out goes to our amazing physical education (P.E.) teachers, Ms. Brod and Mr. Bergin, for organizing such a fabulous day-long event. The day was capped off by the annual 6th Grade vs. Staff kickball game! Much to the disappointment to our oldest students, the staff continued their winning streak for another year! 😉
We extend a huge thank you to the over 60 family members and community volunteers who shared their time and talent with us to help make the day such a fun and successful event. We can't do the things we do for students without you, and we are who we are as a Forestdale Family because of each of you!
As we enjoy this beautiful Memorial Day weekend, let us take a moment to honor and remember the brave men and women who have sacrificed their lives in service to our country. Memorial Day is a time to reflect on their selflessness, to express our gratitude, and to ensure their legacy lives on in our hearts. Let us stand together in remembrance, cherishing the freedoms they fought to protect.
Have a wonderful holiday weekend,
Mrs. Jenny Cunneen, Proud Principal
Dr. LaDonna Tate, Proud Assistant Principal

 Student Testing Results Coming Soon
Starting in late May, caregivers will receive reports for assessments their students completed this spring. Not sure what assessments your student took this year? A list of tests by grade level is available. Scores will be delivered in SIS ParentVUE, by mail, or from the school or testing organization. Learn what to expect regarding assessment reporting practices and timelines.
Some families will also receive a Virginia’s Visualization and Analytics Solution (VVAAS) Student Assessment Summary report with historical Standards of Learning (SOL) test results from 2015-2022.
Visit FCPS’ website for additional information about student assessments or contact your student's school.
How to Support Your Child’s Success
If you do not already have a SIS ParentVUE account, sign up now to monitor and support your child’s academic success! Through ParentVUE, you are able to view your student’s attendance, grades, and assignments at any time. You can also access special reports for your student like progress reports and assessment score reports.
Once you have activated a ParentVUE account for an FCPS student, you will keep the same account until the student graduates. Information about students in the same family can be accessed through the same ParentVUE account. Access SIS ParentVUE by using an app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android devices.
Need help creating a SIS ParentVue account? This video walks through the steps. Find out more about SIS ParentVUE.
Update Your Contact Information in weCare@School
Within SIS ParentVUE, FCPS provides weCare@school (weCare), an emergency care information system. weCare helps manage contact and emergency medical information by allowing parents/caregivers to enter and update their children’s data online.
That contact information automatically enrolls parents/caregivers to receive critical updates from the district and their child’s school through the eNotify system. FCPS uses eNotify to communicate emergency, transportation, attendance, weather closing and delay, and essential outreach messages. Messages are sent by email, text, and occasionally by phone. Learn more about updating your emergency care information.
Your Input Wanted for Class Groupings
Creating class assignments for next year requires careful consideration and the involvement of many staff members. We know that a good teacher-student match and a productive mix of children are ingredients for success. Please use this form/ usa este formulario to share information about your child that the school staff should know, particularly regarding friendships or neighborhood factors, by Monday, May 29, 2023. Our teachers and staff use this information to create preliminary class groupings in the end of May.
We also ask that you do not request specific teachers. This does not take into account the many variables to be considered such as grade-level changes or reductions in staff. It is far more valuable to share particular academic or behavioral needs or concerns. Be assured that with or without a parent letter, your child’s strengths and needs are considered in this lengthy and complex process.
Thank you for sharing this important information with us so we can best meet your child's needs next year!
