Franklin MS Weekly Update - May 6

Franklin Families and Students,

Good afternoon!

We are excited about the week ahead at Franklin Middle School because it will be an opportunity to show our gratitude to a very special group….the staff at FMS! We will be celebrating Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week to recognize our dedicated, passionate, and committed educators.

Our outstanding Franklin PTA has been hard at work organizing several events and special treats to honor our staff, but we are also asking for your help! We wanted to provide our entire community with the opportunity to Thank a Staff Member with a short note, a brief message about the impact they have had on your student, or simply a few words that may brighten their day. If you are interested in recognizing a staff member, please fill out this google form.  We will be surprising the staff with these messages throughout the week.

Thank you for helping us show our appreciation to the amazing staff at Franklin Middle School.

With Gratitude,

Dustin Wright

Principal

Student Laptop Chargers

Students are responsible for charging their laptops every night so that they are able to fully participate in learning throughout the school day. Please check in with your student to ensure they have a charger and are actively keeping their school laptop charged. This will be particularly important prior to SOL testing starting next week. If your student needs a replacement charger, the cost is $23.00. You can purchase one through MySchoolBucks, or send in cash or check.

SEL Screener

Students in grades 3-12 took the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener in March. The SEL Screener reports will be mailed directly to families in the next week. This website includes both the Parent Report as well as a Family Guide to support you in understanding results and ideas for talking with your student about their results. Both are available in multiple languages. To learn more about SEL and how we support students at school and at home please see the FCPS SEL website. Please reach out to our school counselors, school psychologist or school social worker with any questions.
