SHES Chorus Concert - April 26

Dear Spring Hill Families,

We are into the last quarter of the school year and are beginning our planning for summer programming and next year.

One of the important things we do to get ready for the next school year is class placements. Multiple staff members (including current teachers, counselors, specialists and the administration) collaborate as a team to place students in an optimal learning situation each year. Creating balanced classrooms is a challenging task. We must take many considerations into account such as heterogeneous groupings, balancing academic abilities, and maximizing the support our resource staff for students.

One piece of this process is providing parents the opportunity to provide input. We ask that you do not request specific teachers. This does not take into account the many variables to be considered such as grade-level changes or reductions in staff. It is far more valuable to share social/emotional or academic strengths and concerns. Be assured that, with or without a parent input form, each child’s strengths and needs are considered in this lengthy and complex process.

If you would like to share information that you believe would help us as we are making these placement decisions, please click on this link. Completion of this form is optional.

Please note that the deadline for submitting this information is Friday, May 26, 2023.

Have a great weekend!

Kent Gardens Capacity Challenges:  Boundary Scoping

feedback

FCPS is exploring options to address capacity challenges at Kent Gardens Elementary School. One option being considered is a boundary change. The first step in the process is to gather initial feedback about a potential boundary scope, including which elementary schools may be included. We encourage you to share your feedback on potential boundary scope. Feedback form is open through May 10, 2023.  Click on the QR Code for the feedback form.

Community Conversation: School Safety and Security

FCPS will host a community conversation to discuss our approach to safety and security, and the work we do every day to keep our schools safe. Join us Monday, May 8, 6:30-7:30 p.m., at South Lakes High School. Look for registration information in next week’s newsletter.

FCPS staff and experts will review our risk assessment processes, the physical measures we already have in place to protect our students and staff, pilot programs to detect vaping, and how we communicate and collaborate with our partners when there is an incident at our schools.

Lost and Found

The Lost and Found at Spring Hill has been growing. We know you spend a lot of money on things for your children.  Please come and check it out. There are many, many jackets and sweatshirts.  The Lost and Found racks are located in the cafeteria. We will be donating the unclaimed items soon. Thank you!
