Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Although the end of the school year is approaching, I would like to remind you that our students still need to attend school regularly.
Regular attendance is crucial for the academic success of all students. Studies have repeatedly proven that students with better attendance records perform better in school and are more likely to graduate high school on time.
I understand that there may be obstacles preventing students from attending school regularly, such as illness or personal circumstances. That’s why it is so important for our school team to work together with our students and families to remove any barriers.
Attending school even if your student arrives late is valuable for their academic and social success at school. Please encourage your student to arrive on time every day and maintain regular attendance until the last day of school. Together, we can work toward increasing school attendance rates and improving academic outcomes for all our students.
Please read the tips below to support regular school attendance and foster a positive attitude in your student regarding school and education:
- Establish routines that help reduce stress.
- Maintain strong connections with friends and teachers to ensure prompt communication in case of any concern or emergency.
- Provide us with your updated email address and phone number.
- Review your student’s attendance record regularly and make necessary adjustments after tardiness or medical appointments to your school office.
Let's finish the school year strong!
Sincerely,
Marguerite Saitta
Principal
 Staff Appreciation Week - May 1st - May 5th
Let's celebrate our SUNsational Staff for all of the "owlsome" things they do to help our owls "soar high to succeed." Please see our Staff Appreciate School Spirit Week above. We look forward to brightening their days with beams of kindness, joy and appreciation!
Dear Parents and Guardians:
Across Virginia, students will be taking Standards of Learning (SOL) tests this spring. Federal and state education departments have decided not to cancel this year’s assessments. In Fairfax County Public Schools, testing for grades 3-8 will be scheduled between May 1 – 26, 2023. Retakes will be scheduled May 1 – June 2, 2023. Below is our Crestwood ES SOL Testing Calendar. Starting this year, SOL Testing is a one day test. Students can take as long as they need to test. If your student needs to continue testing past dismissal, you will receive a phone call from the School Testing Coordinator.
Please contact the Main Office at 703-923-5400 or your School Testing Coordinator Kolette De La Cruz or Larry Caines if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Kolette De La Cruz & Larry Caines
School Testing Coordinator/Assistant Principal
