Chantilly Pyramid Art Show on April 19

Franklin Families and Students,

Good Morning! Our students and staff have been doing some amazing things during the last few weeks and I wanted to put a spotlight on some of these achievements.

The Chantilly Pyramid Art Show took place last week and it was a great way for our community to come together to celebrate the talents of our students. The art show featured artists from Chantilly HS, Franklin MS, Rocky Run MS, Brookfield ES, Greenbriar East ES, Greenbriar West ES, Lees Corner, ES, Oak Hill ES, and Poplar Tree ES. We are very excited that two FMS students, Mira Riley and Tam Thai, received awards for their artwork. Additionally, a huge thank you goes to our amazing Art teacher, Tammy French, for all of the hard work she put into helping our students prepare for the art show and for the dedication and passion that she shares with them every single day.

On Tuesday evening, Franklin MS hosted the Chantilly Pyramid Spotlight on Learning which was another powerful opportunity for our community to support our students. The focus of this event was the FCPS Portrait of a Graduate attributes. The Portrait of a Graduate is all about students using and growing skills that will help them succeed in all aspects of life! During this event, over 100 students from every school in our pyramid shared Presentations of Learning by applying the skills they are learning in their classes. Their presentations allowed them to reflect on using these skills, how they are helpful, how students know they are improving, and to share their growth with their teachers and peers. The gymnasium and cafeteria at FMS were packed with parents and community members who came to support our students. We were also fortunate that our Sully District School Board Member, Mrs. Stella Pekarsky, and our Region 5 Assistant Superintendent, Ms. Rebecca Baenig, were able to join our students at this event. Congratulations to everyone that was involved!

Finally, this is the first year that we have had a dedicated yearbook elective course at our school and our students have been hard at work! I know that you will be very impressed with their efforts. Franklin MS 2023 yearbooks are on sale through May 6, 2022. The cost of the yearbook is $25. Families may order online by clicking here and you can contact Kelly Barlow with any questions.

Best wishes to all of you for a relaxing and enjoyable weekend.

Sincerely,

Dustin Wright

Principal
