May
Dear Brookfield Families,
The last two weeks have been full of exciting events, and we couldn’t be more thankful for all the support from our families, staff, and volunteers. Whether you ran a station on Field Day, brought a delicious dish to International Night, cheered on students at the Talent and Fashion Show, or contributed time and energy to one of our amazing Music Concerts, we are grateful! These spring activities wouldn’t be possible without many helping hands – THANK YOU! We know our students will cherish these memories for years to come.
Currently the PTA is looking for parents to take on leadership roles and join the PTA Executive Board next year. This friendly, hard-working group organizes many events (including Winter Carnival and International Night), helps raise money to cover student costs for field trips and after school programs, and lifts our teachers’ spirits with tokens of kindness throughout the year. If you would like to volunteer in this way, email pta.Brookfield@gmail.com to officially nominate yourself or a friend for a position on the Executive Board! Additional information can be found in the PTA article below.
We hope you have a lovely weekend!
Sincerely,
Ellen Mukai, Jennifer Hutchinson, and Margaret Sisler

Parent Input for Class Placement
We are already working on our plans for the 2023-2024 school year! Class placements are an essential component of learning and building community. If you have information that you would like us to consider as we determine placements, please share your input by answering a few questions listed below. We know that a good teacher-student match and a productive mix of children are ingredients for success, and we carefully consider each child’s strengths and needs during this process. Please do not request specific teachers, as this does not take into account the many variables we must take into consideration. It is far more valuable to share particular academic or behavioral information.
Completion of this form is optional. If you would like to provide input, you may use this online form; print, complete and email to Ellen Mukai (ehmukai@fcps.edu); or a hard copy may be sent to the office by May 22, 2023. This is a hard deadline. Please know that input from forms turned in over the summer are difficult to honor since the grouping process has already started.

Update Contact Information in WeCare@School
Within SIS ParentVUE, Fairfax County Public Schools provides weCare@school (weCare), an emergency care information system. weCare helps manage contact and emergency medical information by allowing parents/caregivers to enter and update their children’s data online.
That contact information automatically enrolls parents/caregivers to receive critical updates from the district and their child’s school through the eNotify system. FCPS uses eNotify to communicate emergency, transportation, attendance, weather closing and delay, and essential outreach messages. Messages are sent by email, text, and occasionally by phone. Learn more about updating your emergency care information.
