Friday, April 21, 2023 is Eid al Fitr and there is no school for students. The McNair School Office will also be closed. We will reopen on Monday, April 24, 2023.
Class Grouping Input by Friday, May 12
Creating class assignments for next year requires careful consideration and the involvement of many staff members. We know that a good teacher-student match and a productive mix of children are ingredients for success. If you feel that you have information about your child that the school staff may not know, particularly regarding friendships or neighborhood factors, please submit it to the principal, Merrell Dade, at mvdade@fcps.edu in writing by Friday, May 12. Our teachers use this information to create preliminary class groupings in May/June.
We also ask that you do not request specific teachers. This does not take into account the many variables to be considered such as grade-level changes or reductions in staff. It is far more valuable to share particular academic or behavioral concerns. Be assured that, with or without a parent letter, each child’s strengths and needs are considered in this lengthy and complex process.
Register for Kindergarten Now
FCPS recognizes that parents are their children’s first teachers. Resources on the School Readiness and Transition to Kindergarten webpage provide parents with ways to support their children to help ensure a successful transition to kindergarten.
There’s an easy to follow five step process outlined for parents registering their children for kindergarten. Register your child today.
McNair’s Kindergarten Orientation will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. Come and meet the staff, learn more about kindergarten in FCPS and at McNair Elementary, and enjoy meeting families of other rising kindergarten students.
Please contact our school registrar, Ms. Hosseini, at ahosseini@fcps.edu or 703-793-4800 if you have any questions.
