Hello Shrevewood Families,
It is hard to believe we are starting the 4th Quarter on Monday! Our Kindergarten Orientation yesterday was a huge success and we enjoyed welcoming our future Owls.
Our Book Fair continues through next week and we need additional parent volunteers to help our fair run as smooth as possible. Please consider volunteering and Sign up HERE.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Joshua DeSmyter, Principal

Above is our SOL schedule for this Spring. If possible, please avoid scheduling trips or appointments that will take your child out of school on a day when they are testing. If you have any questions about SOL testing, please contact Katie Vandawalker at kmvandawalke@fcps.edu.
Next week, our Positivity Project lessons during Morning Meeting will be focusing on the character strength of Fairness. Fairness means you believe that all people have value. You approach situations with an unbiased mindset and treat everyone with respect.
Questions that you can discuss with your child include:
- How does fairness spread to other people?
- How do you practice fairness in your life?
- What can you do if you witness something happening that is unfair?
“It is not fair to ask of others what you are unwilling to do yourself.”
-Elanor Roosevelt
In elementary school, kindergarten-sixth grade students' phones must be silenced and in backpacks for the duration of the school day. Watches that serve a dual purpose (e.g., smart watch) may be worn; however, phone features (e.g., texting, Internet, calls, etc.) are to be off during the school day. Students are prohibited from using phones, smart watches, tablets, and other mobile devices in restrooms, the cafeteria, and at recess unless there is a true emergency. The full SR&R can be accessed online at: https://www.fcps.edu/srr
In case you missed it in FCPS This Week, the school division shared updates on the following topics:
- No-Cost Mental Health Teletherapy for High School Students
- Proposed Updates to the Student Rights and Responsibilities Document
- Curriculum Overviews on FCPS’ Website
Read FCPS This Week to learn more about these topics. If you are not already receiving the weekly newsletter, sign up today.
We will be recognizing and honoring our students' birthdays monthly. For the safety of all students and staff in our building and to limit the amount of classroom disruptions, please do not send in food or toys for your child's birthday.
