Please join me in congratulating some of our Mustangs (Krish J., Karthik S. and Dharsh M.) who won first place in the under 1000 ratings at the Virginia State Chess Tournament in Norfolk, Virginia over the weekend of March 24th.
Please also congratulate Krish J. who also won 2nd place in the tie breaker points competition. Krish also participated in the National High School Championship chess tournament in Washington D.C. during the weekend of March 31st. During this tournament, he placed 13th overall out of 400 participants in tie breaker points.
As the warm spring weather arrives, we have many more students, families and community members gather on our school grounds both after school hours and on the weekends. If you and your Mustang do visit our school grounds to play on the field, basketball court, or playground area, we ask that you kindly follow these expectations:
- All children should be accompanied by an adult or an older sibling who is at least 18 years of age.
- Treat our school property and everything on it with respect by using it the correct way.
- Please do not use chalk to write on our school building. Children are welcome to use chalk on our sidewalks and blacktop areas as long as their drawings are school appropriate.
- Please pick up after yourselves by disposing of food and/or drinks in the trashcans.
- Pets are not allowed on school grounds. If you do walk your pet throughout parts of our school grounds, please pick up after them. We have noticed an increase in dog waste on our field and sidewalk area.
- Treat everyone with kindness and respect by using appropriate language and behavior.
- The speed limit on Fox Mill Road is 25 MPH. When accessing our school parking lots, we ask that you do not exceed this speed limit and perhaps go even slower since children are at play and families are walking on our school grounds.
- If you see something suspicious, say something by reporting it to the Fairfax County Police Department.
We have a beautiful school that we want to keep looking nice future Mustangs and their families to enjoy! We appreciate your part in making this happen.
Springtime can be difficult for allergy or seasonal allergy sufferers. Because all students will go outside to enjoy their 30-minute daily recess break, if your child does suffer from seasonal allergies, they are welcome to wear a mask while outside to lessen their sneezing.
