Family Input Form SY 2023-24

Developing class assignments each year is a complex process. School administration, classroom teachers, counselors, special education staff and specialists all have the opportunity to provide feedback on class groupings.

If you have feedback that you would like for us to consider, please add it to this Family Input Form no later than May 12, 2023. Late submissions will not be accepted. We will consider all feedback provided, but we are not always able to fulfill requests.

We respectfully ask that you do not request particular teachers. It is unfair to give special consideration to some families when it would be impossible to grant requests from all families. Please be aware that grade level assignments for staff sometimes change, due to late enrollments or other changes.  Staff assignments are determined at the end of the summer.

Commemorative Book Drive

max

Earlier this year one of our beloved former WFES students, Max Pound, passed away following a long battle with brain cancer. To commemorate Max, Frost Middle School will be holding a book drive in his honor throughout his birthday month of April. Books donated through the drive will receive a gold embossed sticker and be included in the library circulation to symbolize Max as an everlasting part of our school community.

Max was an avid reader with a vivacious thirst for knowledge. Books within the registry are related to topics Max truly enjoyed including history, science, space exploration, and jokes, along with some of his all-time favorites. Also included are books that focus on altruism, courage, and overcoming obstacles that represent Max’s character displayed not only throughout his battle with brain cancer, but also in his day-to-day life as a student, teammate, son, sibling, and friend.

To participate, add a book to your cart from the Amazon registry. At checkout, select the Frost MS registry address option to have the book sent directly to Frost Middle School.

Month of the Military Child

Purple Up! Day - Month of the Military Child

April is the Month of the Military Child, a time to recognize children from military families for their contributions and sacrifices. We would also like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank children from Uniformed Services, State Department, and Foreign Services and other families for their service and sacrifices. We recognize that children serve too. The nationwide commemoration was established in 1986 by former Defense Secretary Casper Weinberger.

FCPS is proud to have more than 14,000 military-connected youth as a part of our student body. We appreciate the varied life experiences they bring to our school community and recognize their strength and resilience.

We appreciate the varied life experiences they bring to our school community, and recognize their strength and resilience. On April 19, we will "Purple Up! "to recognize and celebrate the resilience and service of our military-connected children!

Why purple? Purple symbolizes all branches of the military as a combination of Army green, Marine Corps red, and Coast Guard, Navy, Air Force and Space Force blue.

Post your picture and tag #PurpleUpFCPS. Let’s Purple Up! for military kids!

Level IV AAP Orientation - April 18th

Wakefield Forest will host a level IV Advanced Academics Program (AAP) Orientation on Tuesday, April 18th at 6:30pm in the library. This orientation is designed for parents/guardians to learn about the school based level IV program at Wakefield Forest ES.

All students at WFES have access to level I AAP services each week through STEAM lab. Classroom teachers also integrate AAP curriculum into their lessons throughout the year.

WFES also offers level II and level III (grades 3-6) services to identified students. We screen all students at least one annually to determine whether or not they require level II services (provided by the classroom teacher in an identified academic area) or level III services (supported by the Advanced Academic Resource Teacher).

Lost and Found Overflowing

lost

We have TONS of coats, sweatshirts and more in our lost and found, and it is literally overflowing. Small items (jewelry, watches, ear buds, military medals, etc) can be found in the front office, and the coats can be found outside of the front office at door #1. Please ask your students to take a peek. We also encourage parents to come take a look in the lost and found before and after school or during any events they may attend at school. All items remaining will be donated at the end of the year.

Construction Corner

second story

We are seeing a great deal of progress on the addition. The plan is for the addition to be completed August 2023. We would then move grades K-3 into the new addition while the remainder of the school undergoes renovation.
