Teacher Appreciation

We have the best staff in FCPS! Thank you to our PTA, students, and families for making everyone feel so special this week!

From the Principal's Desk:

Louise Archer Elementary School, named for its first principal, was built in 1939. Our school began with three educators, Louise Archer, Mabel Mack, and Channie Henderson, and their desire to provide the best education to all students. Today, there are over 500 students and 65 educators and staff members continuing the dreams and goals which were created over 84 years ago. The students, staff, and community share enormous pride in the school’s rich history and its warm, friendly, community atmosphere. Each year, we take the time to celebrate our history and our successes throughout the years.

If you are interested in learning more about our important school history, I invite you to read the comprehensive information shared on our school website at this link.

We are so proud of our school - the past, present, and future! So, later this month on WLATV, our students will view some of the history of our school and also see what Louise Archer ES will look like at the end of renovation. I plan to share an update of the construction timeline and upcoming phases at the next PTA meeting on May 25th at 8pm.

You can access the survey at our Louise Archer website, under the announcements “Class Assignment Parent Survey". Or, you can go directly to the google form here. Just complete the fillable form, submit it, and the information will go directly to me and will be shared with the grade level teachers during the placement process.

Please submit the electronic form no later than May 5, 2023. Late submissions or separate emails will not be considered. Thanks for continuing to have trust in our school and working together to create the most successful environment for your child(ren) at Louise Archer each year!

FCPS Cell Phone Use Reminder

If a student has a phone at school, it must be silenced and in backpacks for the duration of the school day. Smart watches that serve a dual purpose may be worn, but the phone features (texting, Internet viewing, and calls) are to be off during the school day. Students may not receive or send calls or texts in school. Parents may call the front office if there is a message that a student needs to receive.

Junior Optimist Club Drives

The LAES Junior Optimist Club is currently holding a Pull for the House Drive!

Pull for the House – We are collecting pop-tabs and donating them to the Ronald McDonalds House Charities. The Ronald McDonald House recycles the pop-tabs and uses the money to help support programs that ease the hardship of childhood illness on children and their families.

The drive will go until May 31st. Pop-tabs can be dropped off in the box outside the front office.

SEL Screener Results

Students in grades 3-12 took the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener in March. The SEL Screener reports will be mailed directly to families in the next week. This website includes both the Parent Report as well as a Family Guide to support you in understanding results and ideas for talking with your student about their results. Both are available in multiple languages. To learn more about SEL and how we support students at school and at home please see the FCPS SEL website. Please reach out to our school counselors, school psychologist or school social worker with any questions.
