Glasgow Parents and Community:
Greetings! Reminder: Along with the month of April comes spring break! There is no school from April 3-7. We hope we have wonderful spring weather and everyone has a wonderful break. The end of the third marking period is Thursday, April 13. This will be a two-hour early release day for students. Friday, April 14 is a teacher workday with no school for students.
The FCPS CARES Program is an opportunity for parents, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care. We invite you to submit your story below, so we can all acknowledge the good work of FCPS employees. Please take some time and fill out a CARES submission for one of our administrators in our building. They do so much to ensure Glasgow runs smoothly. National Assistant Principals Week, April 3–7, 2023, is a celebration of the unsung heroes in our education system. These dedicated folks work tirelessly to bolster teachers, motivate students, support their principal, create a positive learning community, and face the many unpredictable challenges that land on their desk. Assistant Principals play a crucial role, and this week is a dedicated time to recognize them for their hard work and commitment to our schools, students, and profession. Please join us in celebrating these incredible school leaders!

This year, the first day of Ramadan was on Wednesday, March 22. Ramadan is the most sacred month of the year, a time for spiritual discipline for Muslims, who believe it was during this month that God revealed the first verses of the Quran to Mohammed. If students would like to use the prayer/reflection room during instructional time, their parents/caregivers must provide a written request for that accommodation. If you would like to request that accommodation for your student, please submit an email to me at vlpowell@fcps.edu.
Spring Break Office Hours:
The building will be open during spring break. The building hours will be from 6:00am-2:00pm Monday through Friday.
Humbly,
Victor L. Powell, Principal

Pilot of Online Registration Includes Glasgow Middle School
Online Registration (OLR) will be available at more than 30 pilot schools beginning Friday, March 31. All FCPS schools will offer online registration beginning in June.
Families will be able to register their students electronically via SIS ParentVUE. Directions to setting up a SIS ParentVUE account are on the online registration page.
The new system reduces manual data entry of basic student registration at all schools, allows online registration using the portal at any hour of any day, and enables secure electronic upload of student registration documents and storage, reducing paper records management. Parents/Guardians will continue to have the option of downloading the registration form bundle or paper registration forms as needed. Visit our website for more information on registering your child.
