Justice High School Construction Parking Plans

Justice Pyramid Community,

As the much anticipated construction begins at Justice High School, several adjustments are required for parking and the flow of student drop off and dismissal.

During spring break, the front parking lot of Justice High School will be reconfigured to include the following:

  • Extension of the crosswalk in the main parking lot to facilitate a safe walkway for students to access cars at Kiss and Ride;
  • The main entrance at the corner of the gym will be widened to create two full lanes for bus and vehicle traffic;
  • The area directly to the left of the school’s main doors will be striped to accommodate 19 permanent parking spaces;
  • The area to the right of the school’s main doors will be striped to accommodate 15 temporary parking spaces;
  • Five additional spaces will be added along the back fence;
  • Two additional spaces will be added near the cafeteria;
  • Thirteen spaces will be added in front of the gym;
  • To maximize the number of cars possible, striping will be added to define, not add, 36 parking spaces along Peace Valley Lane.

Additionally, overflow parking will be allowed between April 10 – June 16, 2023, from 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on a portion of Diamond Drive and Peace Valley Lane currently within a Residential Permit Parking District (RPPD). This accommodation is expected to yield a maximum of 28 parking spaces. Permits will be required for cars parking in this designated area.

Student parking will be available at the following locations:

  • Along the fence line of the parking lot: 50 spaces. These spaces will be marked as designated paid student parking;
  • Parking on Peace Valley Lane (across from the park) will also be designated for paid student parking.

By the Numbers - According to the Facilities Office:

  • 329 – total number of parking spaces currently on site: 248 (includes 8 handicapped accessible spaces) in the main lot and 81 in the back lot;
  • 83 – parking space loss: 2 in the main lot (to create the extended crosswalk) and 81 in the back lot;
  • 71 – paid student passes for the 2022-2023 school year;
  • 54 – (15) temporary and (39) permanent parking spaces will be added on school grounds by April 10th;
  • 20 – additional permanent spaces will be added at the end of the construction project;
  • 199.5 faculty and 63 staff - including administrators, counselors, custodians, instructional assistants, attendants, office support, safety and security, specialists, and teachers to support current membership.

In this plan, facilities staff have stated there will be enough parking spaces for all staff members at Justice High School.

However, there is no available tally of other employees who report to JHS on a daily basis such as monitors, food and nutrition staff, social workers, psychologists, family liaisons, etc., nor a projection of number of staff once the school reaches its final membership capacity of 2,500 students.

Additional information has been requested about visitor parking and student parking plans for the fall.
