Attendance Reminder

Attendance-es

This year, spring break is April 3-7. We will be eager to welcome your children back in school on Monday, April 10. Their attendance is very important. Every day, our teachers will be teaching, and students will be learning. Studies have shown that just two absences per month can cause students to fall behind. Let’s finish this school year strong. Visit FCPS’ website for attendance resources.

Please note, testing is NOT required for students to return to school after break. However, you may want to test your student if they are symptomatic or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19. Kits will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Family Liaison Corner - Encourage Critical Thinking

Critical thinking helps students analyze information and understand how it relates to a bigger picture. To help your elementary schooler develop this skill:

  • Allow time for your child to try to solve problems independently. Ask questions like “How could you figure that out?”
  • Encourage reflection. Ask how your child thinks a completed project or task went. “Did you plan enough time to finish? What did you learn from doing it?”
  • Consider current events. Have your child read an article and express an opinion on an issue. Then ask, “Why might other people might think differently?”
