JROTC Cadets Place in Air Rifle Competition

Congratulations to The Hayfield “Hawkeyes” 3PAR Sporter Air Rifle Team as they earned 2nd place in the FCPS JROTC annual 3 PAR Air Rifle Competition.   The Hayfield JROTC program hosted the annual Air Rifle Competition at the Arlington-Fairfax chapter of the Isaak Walton League with 50 participants.

This is an annual event held in early Spring as the final match for the season.  This event is unique in that the Cadets get to experience the same targeting and scoring technology use in the Olympics air rifle competition.

Congratulations to the following individual Cadets:

  • Cadet Corporal John Michael Encarnacion who placed 2nd with a score of 66 in standing.  This position is considered the least stable position to shoot from and therefore the most difficult.
  • Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Caden Ritchie who place 2nd in the individual overall with a score of 228 out of 300; and 1st in individual standing and 2nd in individual kneeling.

Hayfield hosted the annual Kingstowne Cup on March 24th in which the Middle School girls & boys basketball teams faced-off against Twain Middle School's teams.  In two hard-fought efforts, Hayfield's teams were both successful in winning the evening's games!  Congratulations on your hard work, Hawks!

In an event that invited students and community members from the area elementary schools as well as our own middle and high schoolers, it was well-attended and generated excitement around our awesome school programs.  Our rising freshmen cheer-team demonstrated their skills and helped to keep the energy of the stands up!  This evening was an all-around example of what it means to say: Hawk Pride!
