Upper Playground

Renovation Update

As you can see from this picture, our upper playground has been dismantled. Construction will begin creating a new walker path to Door 2 and a road leading up to the (former) soccer field on Monday.

Mrs. Fant and Mr. Granieri will be assessing the walker path each morning to ensure there is an acceptable path to and from Door 2 for our walkers.


Administrative Assistant II Position

Stephanie Kohout, our previous Administrative Assistant, transferred to Union Mill Elementary School. Her last day at Crossfield was Thursday, March 16.

Our Administrative Assistant II position will be advertised on Wednesday, March 22:  Serves as administrative assistant to a principal; relieves supervisor of routine administrative tasks and ensures smooth and efficient operation of the assigned office; performs a variety of paraprofessional accounting duties required to maintain complex financial records.

Kindergarten Registration:

It’s as Easy as 1-2-3…

Kindergarten registration is open at Crossfield and other schools in Fairfax County.  Parents of students entering kindergarten in August, should follow the instructions at this link to complete the 5-step process for student enrollment. 6th Grade End of Year Events – Register by Friday, March 24

The best is yet to come!  Help our 6th graders mark the end of their wonderful years at Crossfield with a celebration to remember: the 6th Grade End of Year Events!

This year’s End of Year Events will continue longstanding Crossfield 6th grade traditions including a T-shirt design contest; a baby photo contest; a kickball game; a 6th grade only dance party; the promotion ceremony, slideshow, and reception; a class gift; and more.

Drug Education Nights

The FCPS Safety & Wellness Office has scheduled in-person Drug Education Nights for parents, guardians and youth caregivers across the division. These sessions are designed to inform our community of substance use trends, the opioid epidemic, and how to connect with resources. Please click here for the Oakton pyramid flyer. SoCo Summer Strings

Exciting news! SoCo Summer Strings (formally Stallion Summer Strings) is returning this summer! The camp will be hosted at South County Middle School from July 10th-21st from 8:30am-12:30pm, weekdays only. 

Camp is open to all rising 5th-9th grade students with at least one year of experience on the violin, viola, cello, or bass. Students will participate in two large ensemble rehearsals, an instrument-specific technique class, and a sectional each day.

Covid Case Manager

Crossfield has a Covid Case Manager this school year, Ms. Stefanie Ragano. You may include her on emails alerting Crossfield that your child has tested positive. Ms. Ragano will communicate with families with the official letter and a timeline for returning to school for covid-positive students.
