Twenty-eight students have been working very hard preparing for the Bailey's Upper Variety show next Thursday, March 16th at 6:00pm. Two adults per student performing will be able to attend the show, as space is limited in the Theatre at Bailey's Upper Elementary School. We can't wait to see our young performers on stage!
All students at Bailey’s Upper are offered an alternate space during the lunch period instead of the cafeteria during Ramadan. Teachers will be checking in with students to learn their preference prior to the start of Ramadan. Parents are also welcome to call the main office to share any questions or concerns.
Families: Please Join Us Virtually on March 13th for Wellness Night
Please join Bailey’s Upper Drama teacher Ms. Kim Mann and 4th grade teacher Ms. Kayla Bukovac for Reader’s Theater! We will explore fluency strategies and students and parents will practice a Reader’s Theater script. We will also show you how to do this fun activity at home. All students who participate will receive a Reader’s Theater script in school next week to do at home.
Weekly Parent Conversations will occur virtually on Mondays, 7:00pm – 8:00pm. The themes will cover wellness, math, and language arts. Specific topics will be announced the Friday before in News You Choose.

- Wednesday, March 15th - Online Integrated Reading/Writing Field Test for Students in Grade 5

In Superintendent’s Memo # 177-22, the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) announced that school divisions are required to administer the online integrated reading/writing field test to all students who are scheduled to take the online grade 5, 8, and End-of-Course (EOC) Standards of Learning (SOL) reading tests. The test will consist of one non-fiction reading passage followed by a series of multiple-choice/ technology-enhanced questions and a writing prompt, or an “invitation to write,” that is based on the passage. Field test outcomes will be only used internally by VDOE to plan future SOL test revisions. No scores will be reported for students, schools, or divisions.

Parents are invited to join their student(s) for a special lunch at school on an assigned day! This is a great opportunity for parents to come in for lunch with their child. Please see below for the scheduled lunches by teacher.

We encourage parents to eat the same lunch as their child either packed or purchased. On the day of your child’s lunch, please arrive 5-10 minutes early so you can sign-in at the office. All lunches will be hosted in room 249. If you choose to buy lunch from the cafeteria, adult pricing is $4.50 and may be paid in cash. Click here for more information on purchasing lunch.
