Dear Cunningham Park Families and Friends,
It’s Kindergarten Registration Time!
Attending kindergarten provides children with an opportunity to learn and practice the essential social, emotional, problem-solving, and self-regulation skills they will use throughout their lives. Fairfax County public schools typically conduct kindergarten registration events—including orientation—in the Spring. Our Kindergarten Orientation will be held Thursday, April 13 at 2:30PM.
Eligible children can also be registered throughout the summer, but registering your child early helps schools prepare and ensure they have the teachers and resources on hand that they need on the first day of school.
After determining which school their child will attend, families should prepare for registration by gathering documents and completing forms, details can be found on the FCPS kindergarten registration webpage. FCPS offers support and resources for all families to help with registration and the transition to kindergarten. For support in other languages, visit the kindergarten registration webpage.
Respectfully,
Ms. Williams and Mr. Kemmerer

Tech Tidbits
When kids start to go online, whether they're playing multiplayer games, using educational apps, or just following their curiosity on Google, it's important that they understand the basics of online privacy and safety. With some general guidelines around what information is and isn't OK to share, and some help from parents when they're unsure, kids can have fun and learn a lot in the digital world.
We work on this skill at school, however, if you need help at home, the Common Sense character, Guts can help! Guts helps kids learn how to stay safe online and what it means to be a responsible digital citizen.
Check out this video to introduce your children to Guts and remember, having access to tech comes with its own set of responsibilities that we need to reinforce in all our children.

Attendance Matters
- This is the time of year when winter weather and children’s illnesses can take a toll on school attendance. But it’s important to get your children to school every day possible.
- If you are unsure whether to send your children to school, consult your doctor or this website for guidance. Our school nurse is also a terrific resource for chronic health conditions.
- Do what you can to keep your children healthy. Dress them warmly for the cold weather and make sure they’ve got hats and gloves. Encourage them to wash their hands regularly..
- Help your child learn to persevere. Today, he learns to overcome a snowdrift. In the future, he will have the grit to triumph over even greater obstacles to his dreams.
- Please remember to report all absences to the school by calling the attendance line or using the online reporting at https://cunninghamparkes.fcps.edu/about/attendance-form..

Lost and Found
With our Winter weather temperatures being so up and down lately, we have had a large number of jackets, sweaters and hoodies end up in our lost and found.
We’re sure to have plenty of cold days yet this season so, please stop by and check the lost and found, in the cafeteria, for your child’s missing items. All items that do not get claimed will be donated.
