Thursday, March 9, 2023 at 7:00 pm

Ær Queen (they/them) is a trans non-binary and autistic General Music teacher at Braddock Elementary School in Annandale, Virginia. This is their 8th year teaching General Music, and they are a proud alum of Shenandoah Conservatory where they earned their Bachelor of Music in Music Education.

Ær is passionate about helping educators view the importance of gender inclusivity in schools through the first-person lens of a practicing transgender teacher, and they have presented at numerous conferences throughout the United States including 11 state MEAs, the VEA Summit for Racial and Social Justice, and the National Alliance for Partnerships in Equity—National Summit for Educational Equity.

In their classroom, they do everything they can to make sure that their students know they are loved, cared for, and included from the moment they enter the classroom. Music for Mental Health Concert

Friday, March 10, 2023 at 7:30pm in the HHS Auditorium

http://evite.me/XFdSafQPbA

You are invited to come hear a wonderful night of music shared by talented student singers and instrumentalists as they use their gifts to raise awareness and support for Our Minds Matter.

Our Minds Matter (OMM) is a student-led movement to change school culture around mental health. Since its founding in 2012, OMM has envisioned a world where all teens are equipped with mental health education, resources, and support so that they never die by suicide. OMM has worked toward this vision by building and supporting a network of student-led mental health clubs in middle and high schools. The organization is based in the DC-area, and supports over 100 clubs in this region, including at Herndon High School.

Funds raised through the concert will benefit the greater OMM organization. To learn more and to make a donation to OMM, visit: https://bit.ly/omm-give
