Drama Spirit Day at Chick-fil-A

Come support the HHS Drama Department by placing a Mobile Pickup, Mobile Drive-thru, Mobile Curbside, or Mobile Delivery order. You get to enjoy a great meal and the HHS Drama Department will receive a donation of 25% of today's Mobile sales that have your HHS Drama or Spirit Event mentioned in the special instructions when ordering. Support the "Teacher Lunch" Fund
The HHS PTSA is asking for your support to help celebrate the teachers and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week in May. Please contribute to the "Teacher Lunch" fund so we can bring the whole staff of 250 a catered lunch on May 5th!

HUMC Free Tutoring Program
TGFT will remain virtual for the start of the 2022-23 school year, with sessions being held every Wednesday. Information regarding the program can be found on our website: herndonumc.org/tgft. As in the past, we offer assistance in all math subjects, chemistry, and physics. We want to help your students be successful this year! Additional information available here.
Strategic Plan: Make Your Students’ Voice Count!
Strategic Planning is in process and will incorporate feedback from school staff, families, students, and community partners and organizations. Please encourage your students to participate in this unique opportunity to share their voices.
FCPS is currently seeking secondary students in grades 7-12 who are interested in participating in a Strategic Plan focus group. This focus group provides an opportunity to share feedback in a small group with other FCPS students and a trained facilitator. FCPS is hosting four virtual focus groups for secondary students in February and March:
- March 16, 3:30-5 p.m. or 5:30-7 p.m.
Interested students should check their email for a form to sign up for the focus groups. Students will be asked to provide their student ID, so their parents/caregivers can be identified and contacted to ask for consent to participate.
If you have any questions about the student focus groups or you would like to learn more about this opportunity, please contact strategicplan@fcps.edu.

From the Library
The library is a busy place! We hosted the CTE Department’s Internship Fair this week, welcomed our Math Honor Society students as they dressed the library up for March 14’s Pi Day, and kicked off instruction with our English 10 classes. We love to work with classes to develop research skills, and to help students create products that show their learning. Are your students conducting research in their classes? Please remind your students that there are fantastic research supports available through their HHS Library course on Schoology and that they can always reach us at hhs_library@fcps.edu to schedule one-on-one support.
Spring break is approaching quickly. Encourage your student to have plenty of great reading on hand. Books checked out now are not due until after spring break. In addition to physical books, we offer ebooks and e-audiobooks that your student can enjoy on a personal device. We’ve got something for everyone!
Virtual FCPS Military Night (HS)
FCPS Virtual Military Night is March 20, 2023 from 5:00pm - 8:00pm. FCPS students and families will learn about the various pathways available, including enlistment, ROTC, Senior Military Colleges, and Service Academies. The Google Site associated with the event is live and registration is open!

Rise Against Hunger 2023
Help fight global hunger! Herndon HS and Herndon UMC are again offering a food packing event on Saturday, March 25. The goal is to pack over 30,000 meals in three hours. All are welcome to help, just sign up for a shift at http://events.riseagainsthunger.org/HerndonCommunity2023. Donations will go to support meals and Rise Against Hunger's in country efforts.
