Youth Mental Health First Aid Course - For Parents and Caregivers - March 20, 2023

In partnership with FCPS Office of Safety and Wellness, Hayfield is offering a FREE Youth Mental Health First Aid Course for Parents and Caregivers, Monday, March 20, 2023 from 8:30-3:30 in the Middle School Lecture Hall.  This course is designed to teach parents, family members, and caregivers how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis.  Please RSVP HERE, limited to one caregiver per household.  Click here for more information: https://www.mentalhealthfirstaid.org/.  For questions, contact eecrowley@fcps.edu. 


Workforce Innovation Strategic Hub 

Is your junior or senior undecided on post-secondary plans?  The new Workforce Innovation Strategic Hub (WISH) recently invited Hayfield students to check out its spaces and programming.  Students got to try out various career training opportunities, including welding and flying drones.  For more information about this program, click here.

Academic Advising Underway 

Students have been meeting with their counselors to select classes for the next school year.  These meetings are wrapping up this week.  To preview what your student has signed up for, you can log into SISParentVue and view "Course Requests."  


Virtual FCPS Military Night (HS)

FCPS Virtual Military Night is March 20, 2023 from 5:00pm - 8:00pm. FCPS students and families will learn about the various pathways available, including enlistment, ROTC, Senior Military Colleges, and Service Academies. The Google Site associated with the event is live and registration is open! 


Fairfax County Teen Job Fair Series (HS)

Looking for a job or volunteer opportunity? All students are invited to attend the 2023 Fairfax County Teen Job Fair Series kicking off Saturday, March 11th from 11am to 1pm at West Springfield High School. The other fairs will be held on Saturday, March 18th at South County High School from 11am to 1pm and on Saturday March 25th from 1-3pm at Chantilly High School. At each fair, students will have the opportunity to engage with employers offering part-time, full-time, seasonal, and volunteer positions. During the fairs, students will also be able to attend career-building workshops like Resume Building and Interviewing 101. Most positions at the fair are geared toward students age 16+, but some opportunities for younger students may be available with parental consent.
