Stenwood Hive Happenings

Hive Happenings Newsletter

Dear Stenwood Families,

We hope your family is enjoying the Student Holiday.  Our teachers are hard at work today, learning in a multitude of professional development opportunities and preparing for the remainder of the quarter.  While it has been a short week, we were busy with many Family Invite events and held one of our most anticipated events of the year - Kindergarten Orientation! Please continue to reach out to any neighbors with Kindergarten age children to encourage them to register.

With the weather seemingly getting warmer, we want to remind all our families that if your child is a walker, they should be walking home immediately at the end of the day.  It may be enticing for your child to stick around and enjoy time on the playground or on school grounds, but please make sure they are only doing so with your direct supervision.  School staff are not available to supervise after dismissal.

Principal’s Coffee - How to Support your Reader

In a previous session, we shared about the shift in instruction in FCPS to the Science of Reading, if you missed that session, you can find the slidedeck and recording below. We would now like to invite you to a session to learn more about how you can support your reader at home.

We are going to offer two sessions, one for students who are emergent/beginning readers, this will be geared to students who are mainly in Kindergarten - 2nd grade and a session for proficient readers - this session will be geared towards students in the upper grades. Please feel free to join us for one or both sessions.  The sessions will be recorded for those who are not able to attend at the times listed below.

Emergent/beginning readers - March 13th at 9am

Proficient readers - March 20th at 9am

Links will be sent out as the date approaches.

Upcoming Principal Evaluation Parent/Guardian Feedback Form

On Monday, March 13th, Stenwood parents/guardians will be contacted through email with a link to the FCPS Principal Evaluation Parent/Guardian Feedback Form Online. This questionnaire is part of the Performance Evaluation Program and offers parents/guardians an opportunity to provide anonymous input about various topics related to our school. These topics include instructional leadership, school climate, management (human resources and organizational), communication and community relations, culturally responsive and equitable leadership, and professionalism.

The questionnaire will be collected online between March 13th and March 24th. When you receive an email from FCPS Surveys, please take a few minutes to complete the questionnaire. Your opinions matter!
