Your Views and Opinions Are Important to Us!

Your Opinion Matters

On Monday, March 13, Ravensworth parents/guardians will be contacted through email with a link to the FCPS Principal Evaluation Parent/Guardian Feedback Form Online. This questionnaire is part of the Performance Evaluation Program and offers parents/guardians an opportunity to provide anonymous input about various topics related to our school. These topics include instructional leadership, school climate, management (human resources and organizational), communication and community relations, culturally responsive and equitable leadership, and professionalism.

The questionnaire will be collected online between March 13 and March 24. When you receive an email from FCPS Surveys, please take a few minutes to complete the questionnaire. Your opinions matter!

Survey of Preschool Children

FCPSlogo

We are starting to prepare for the 2023-24 academic year. Children who will be five (5) years old on or before September 30, 2023 are eligible to attend kindergarten next fall. If you have a child who will attend kindergarten at Ravensworth next school year, and you have not already been in contact with our registrar Teresa Dunbar, please complete this survey and return it to the school via email to: tldunbar1@fcps.edu

Please spread the word to your neighbors who don’t already have a child at Ravensworth. Feel free to pass this form along or have neighbors with rising kindergarteners call the office at 703-426-3600 for more information. Registration information will be provided to all families who complete and return this survey.

A child’s record of immunization, physical examination (within 12 months prior to entering kindergarten), proof of residency, and original birth certificate must be submitted when registering the child.  For more information regarding kindergarten registration, you may visit the Fairfax County Public Schools’ website

Our Kindergarten Orientation will be Thursday, April 13 at 3:00 pm.

Kindergarten Registration: It’s as Easy as 1-2-3…

kinder registration

There’s an easy five-step process outlined for parents looking to register their child for kindergarten:

  1. Determine eligibility.
  2. Identify your local school.
  3. Gather documents.
  4. Fill out forms.
  5. Schedule an appointment.

After the appointment at the school (the student and one caregiver must be present), the student will be ready for orientation, Bridge to Kindergarten, or any other introductory events each school may host. Read more about the registration process

Ravensoworth’s Kindergarten Orientation is Thursday, April 13th at 3:00 pm.

Strategic Planning is in process and will incorporate feedback from school staff, families, students, and community partners and organizations. Please encourage your students to participate in this unique opportunity to share their voices.

FCPS is currently seeking secondary students in grades 7-12 who are interested in participating in a Strategic Plan focus group. This focus group provides an opportunity to share feedback in a small group with other FCPS students and a trained facilitator. FCPS is hosting four virtual focus groups for secondary students in March:

  • March 16, 3:30-5 p.m. or 5:30-7 p.m.

Interested students should check their email for a form to sign up for the focus groups. Students will be asked to provide their student ID, so their parents/caregivers can be identified and contacted to ask for consent to participate.

If you have any questions about the student focus groups or you would like to learn more about this opportunity, please contact strategicplan@fcps.edu.

Register Now to Attend a Community Forum!

Transportation – Kiss and Ride

Transportation1

Please help us set good examples for students!  There are crosswalks at Nutting Dr. and Gosport Ln. and also at Nutting Dr. and Ellet Rd.  It is much safer to cross Nutting Dr. at these corners than to park opposite the bus loop and cross Nutting Dr. without a crosswalk. Kiss and Ride is a much safer route to use to drop-off and pick-up students.  Please keep this in mind.

Also, while using Kiss and Ride, as you approach patrols for drop-off or pick-up, do not use your phone.  The Kiss and Ride area is a cell free zone.

We appreciate you helping us keep our students safe.

Positivity Project

love of learning

This week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Love of Learning. Love of learning means you master new topics on your own or in school.

Those with a love of learning are intrinsically motivated and engaged in a topic regardless of achieving an external standard. They enjoy learning simply for the sake of learning. They don’t need a prize of a high grade as a reward. Their reward is the process of doing the work and improving.

Developing a love of learning is highly beneficial for an individual. It means that they are intrinsically motivated to deepen their existing skills and abilities or learn something completely new. Since intrinsically motivated action is correlated with positive emotions, those who act on their love of learning may also have enhanced mental and physical health. Additionally, individuals who love learning have the desire and ability to overcome challenges, due to a sense of autonomy and control over their environment.

To practice and encourage the character strength of perspective with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2), where together you will watch a video, read a quote, and talk about the answers to three questions.
