CROSSTOWN HOOPS VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Parents - please sign up to help volunteer at CrossTown Hoops on Wednesday, March 15th at Marshall High School. We need your help managing check-in for Thoreau students.

2023 Thoreau Spelling Bee Results
The Thoreau Spelling Bee took place on February 15th. We had 10 brave and amazing students participate. The Bee started with words such as "awesome" and "container" and quickly moved to words such as "doppelganger, thrips and filigree". After 23 rounds we had a winner, with the championship word being "fazenda".
Our winner is Clara Yin (8th grade), the 1st runner up is Neel Bhaskar (7th grade), and our 2nd runner up is Jack Gilman (8th grade).
Clara will represent Thoreau at the Fairfax County Bee in March.
Congrats to all of the spellers on a job well done!
March PTA Meeting - Tuesday, March 21 @ 7pm
Our next PTA meeting will be via Zoom on Tuesday, March 21, from 7-8pm. The Zoom link will be posted on our Facebook page and PTA website. We hope that you can join us virtually.

The Marshall High School Boosters Annual Mulch Sale is back for 2023!
The Mulch Sale helps support student athletes, many of whom are Thoreau alumni!

Vienna Elementary School 5K "Kilometers for Kindness"
Mark your calendar for Sunday, April 23 8am! Vienna Elementary School is hosting a 1 mile Fun Run and 5k "Kilometers for Kindness" event right down the road from Thoreau.
