Maureen Boland announced her impending retirement yesterday. She will stay through the summer for the transition. Region 4 will be engaging staff and community in the selection of the next princpal of Rolling Valley. Maureen has been at RVES since July of 2010.
International Night/Heritage Night- 4/27 from 6pm-8pm: We are so excited to be planning our first International Night since the pandemic. We are looking for parents/students to share their home country/culture by bringing food, hosting an activity, or by doing a presentation. You can sign up for International Night here. Salad Bar! So excited to announce that the salad bar will be coming back on March 17th. All students who are buying lunch will first go through the salad bar line to pick up fruit, veggies, protein, or create a salad. Then they will go through the hot lunch line. More to come.
Read Across America Book Drive! Monday, February 27 - Friday, March 10: As part of Read Across America week, the PTA is collecting new and gently used books to donate to Childhood Literacy Adds Potential (C.L.A.P.), an Alexandria-based nonprofit that seeks to get books into the hands of all children. Students may bring books to the donation bin in the RVES lobby, or parents can drop them off! (Please note that C.L.A.P. accepts new and gently used books, but not former library books with pockets.)

Tuesday 2/28 - Wear your favorite color
Wednesday 3/1- Wear a shirt with words on it (to read!)
Thursday 3/2 - Wear something cozy (like pajamas!)

RUNFIT KIDZ REGISTRATION IS OPEN! Are you ready to run? Learn about nutrition and proper running technique by joining the Rolling Valley RunFit Kidz Team! The Rolling Valley PTA is excited to offer RunFit Kidz this spring. Classes will be held before-school on Thursdays beginning March 23rd. PTA BOOK DRIVE DURING READ ACROSS AMERICA WEEK: The PTA is sponsoring a book drive with the Rolling Valley Library for Read Across America Week. We will be collecting new and gently used children's books to donate to Childhood Literacy Adds Potential. CLAP is dedicated to providing free books to less fortunate children in the Washington, D.C metro area. Students may place donated books in the collection box in the front lobby at RVES from February 27-March 10.

Monday, March 20; 7:00-8:00 p.m.; PTA General Membership Meeting @ Rolling Valley: Join us for an in-person PTA meeting! The meeting will take place in the library and childcare is available.
Friday, March 24; 6:00-8:00 p.m.; "Games and Grub" PTA Playdate @ Rolling Valley: RVES families are invited to come hang out and enjoy games in the cafeteria! Delicious fare from local food trucks will also be available for sale! Note that all students must be accompanied by an adult.
