The Region 3 Assistant Superintendent and Executive Principals came to EHS this week to award the Region 3 Secondary Teacher of the Year to Latin Teacher Cristina Procaccino. She will now compete for the FCPS Secondary School Teacher of the Year against the nominees from the other four regions. Below - our Administrative Team joined the Region Office for the presentation.
Cristina has expanded the Latin program since she started at EHS four years ago; she now teaches an extra section of Latin which makes for a very busy schedule. Her students not only enjoy the class, but they have won numerous online and in-person Latin competitions.

March 5-10 is National School Social Work Week. Social workers in FCPS help to prevent social, emotional, and behavioral factors from affecting a student's ability to perform at their best. Their primary goal is to remove barriers that prevent a student from fulfilling their academic potential. Social workers are assigned to every school and center in the school system. Edison HS is grateful to have social worker Patrice Butler at EHS. Learn more about the role of social workers in FCPS
Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow!
Every year, absences increase in the weeks before and after spring break. Please make sure your child is in school every day until vacation starts. Our teachers will be teaching, and our students will be learning. Visit our website for more attendance resources.
A Virginia law passed in spring 2022 requires schools to create a policy for parental notification of sexually explicit content/materials. In December 2022, the School Board adopted FCPS Policy 3290: Parental Notification Regarding Instructional Materials with Sexually Explicit Content.
FCPS has had policies in place for many years regarding the review of instructional materials, communication with parents, and options for alternative instructional materials.
An expectation of this new policy is the 30-day parental notification requirement of sexually explicit content in instructional materials assigned or selected by teachers. After reviewing the notification letter, parents or caregivers who prefer to choose alternative instructional materials for their child must submit this form to the appropriate teacher within the 30-day notification window. View Policy 3290 for more information.

THE PTSA REALLY NEEDS YOU!!!
The PTSA needs volunteers to help with all its upcoming events and programs. Without your help it will be near-impossible to organize these events for our School Community.
We are looking for chairs for the following:
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee
- Fundraising Committee
- Scholarship Committee
- Volunteer Committee
Would you please consider volunteering? Thank you in advance!
In addition, we are looking for volunteers to serve, as members, on all PTSA committees (PTSA Committees). All our committees provide an opportunity to give back to our Edison Community.
For more information about volunteering, please contact PTSA VP for Membership, Makeda Berhane, vp.membership@edisonhsptsa.org.
