Principal's Message

Spring is in the air and yet the cold lingers.  It is amazing to see flowers blooming and trees budding in late February, but I am excited to see Spring on the horizon. Longer days of sunlight include evenings of more playtime, sports, time with family and hopefully time to enjoy a good book together in the evening. This week as we kick off March, we also celebrate Read Across America Day on Thursday. We are encouraging all to dress up as a book character and share their favorite book with their peers.

This evening at 5:30, I look forward to a parent coffee for newer families. Would you like to connect and learn more about Chesterbrook Elementary and our PTA? Please join me. As we have return to a year full of activities, we all get busy and it is great to take the time to connect and support each and every family in learning more about the school community. There are always great ways to help out and enjoy all our community has to offer.

As we look forward to March there are so many wonderful opportunities to visit and connect with other families with the Parent Social, Book Fair events and International Night celebration.

This Thursday our students will be on a 2 hour early release and school is closed for a teacher workday on Friday. Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead!

Sincerely,

Stacy Kirkpatrick, Principal

PTA Parent Social- Rock and Raise Information

How can I purchase tickets? Tickets are available for sale through the PTA website here.  For an extra $150 you can become a “Rock Star” sponsor here. There is NO physical ticket. We will have a list at the door showing you purchased a ticket.

What should I wear? We are hoping parents will have a little fun and dress like a rock star but if that feels like too much pressure for a Thursday night, that's okay, we just want to hang out with you and have fun! So, if you want to wear what you’d normally wear to a concert that works too. We’re expecting everything from Lady Gaga glam to 80s hair metal to Olivia Rodrigo cute to well, jeans and a t-shirt which makes you Metallica or the Foo Fighters or Springsteen?

Who’s coming?  Anyone is welcome to attend! Parents from all grades attend as well as teachers and staff. This is a fun evening for parents, (let's keep the kids at home for this one) outside of school, to catch up with old friends and make some new ones.  Kindergarten and first grade parents get all your burning questions answered by parents in the older grades.  Sixth grade parents don’t miss your last Chesterbrook parent party (sob).  Second, third, fourth and fifth grade parents - come connect with parents you still haven’t met yet!

What are we raising money for?  We polled our Chesterbrook teachers and their number one request was for more flexible seating options in their classrooms.  Our teachers don’t ask for much, so let’s help them get it!  Flexible seating has been shown to facilitate both higher engagement and focus in the classroom and it allows for greater collaboration among students.

How are we raising money? The Rock and Raise committee has been hard at work getting fantastic auction items donated.  We will have an online auction that will be available for bidding ahead of March 9 and a Live auction component during the event where you must be in person to bid on/win Live items. We hope we’ve answered all your questions.  Now go buy your tickets and we’ll see you on March 9 from 7 pm – 10 pm.

Do you have a local business? Sponsor this event. You can support your local school and connect with future customers, partners and employees! Sign up as a Sponsor and help support our teachers and our school! This PDF has all the details.  Questions reach out to Pam or Leticia.
