NNAT TESTING (First Grade)

All first grade students will take the online version of the Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test Third Edition (NNAT3) on Wednesday, March 8, 2023. The NNAT3 is a nonverbal measure of general intellectual ability. The test evaluates a student’s reasoning and problem-solving skills through the identification of patterns involving geometric shapes and pictorial designs. The test is designed to assess ability without requiring the student to read, write, or speak. Students are not expected to know the answers to all questions and will be given opportunities to practice sample items before taking the test. The NNAT3 is an abilities test, so children are not expected to study or prepare for the test the way they would for an achievement test.

If you have any questions about this test, please contact the Advanced Academics Resource Teacher (AART), Melissa Graham, or School Test Coordinator, Lea Fadden, at Crossfield.

POG

Portrait of a Graduate

One of the POG Attributes we focus on at Crossfield and across FCPS is being an Ethical & Global Citizen. What are some of the characteristics of a good Ethical & Global Citizen?

  • Respectfully acknowledge the perspective of others, all over the world
  • Help their community
  • Contribute to taking care of the environment
  • Understand how to contribute as a citizen
  • Act responsibly

How can you support your child’s Ethical & Global Citizenship skills? Share examples of how you used these skills during your day or within your job. Provide specific examples and explain how these skills helped you, your community, and the environment.

“I was an Ethical & Global Citizen today when I ___________________. This was helpful because_______________.”

Our first ever Crossfield United: Multicultural & Art Fest is on Wednesday, March 8. We are thrilled so many of our different cultures here at Crossfield have signed up to represent and share their great diversity.

A wonderful event is planned, but we need help from the community. There are several volunteer slots to be filled, many can be middle schoolers who will get credit for their service hours.

Help us make this event spectacular for our entire community & signup!

6th Grade End of Year Events Planning Committee – JOIN TODAY!

Our 6th graders are growing up and moving up to middle school!  Let’s help them celebrate this achievement and make wonderful memories with some FUN End of Year Events!  Traditional Crossfield 6th grade End of Year Events include a BBQ, kickball game, a 6th grade dance party, and Promotion Ceremony with Reception.  A new fun recess tradition was added last year to celebrate the return of 6th grade events that were not held for two years because of COVID restrictions.

Be part of the FUN—parent volunteers are NEEDED!  All 6th grade parents are welcome to get involved and become part of the Planning Committee.  Our kickoff meeting will be held virtually on Wednesday, March 1 at 7:00 pm to discuss planning of our upcoming events and volunteer opportunities.
