School Board Approves 2023-24 School Year Calendar

The Fairfax County School Board approved a calendar for the 2023-24, 2024-25, and 2025-26 school years at their February 9 meeting. Learn more about the approved calendar

The first day of the 2023-24 school year will be Monday, August 21, and the last day will be Wednesday, June 12

Developing a school year calendar is a balancing act, involving multiple factors that must be considered. Community input is one of those factors, and we appreciate our community for being involved in the calendar development process.

There are two weeks left to submit your IFSP-Funding application in the new WaMS portal!

📆 Application Schedule 📆

January 23rd through February 22nd

Individuals with Priority 1 status can access the Portal to create and submit their applications

January 25th through February 24th

Individuals with Priority 2 and 3 status can access the Portal to create, and submit their applications

Below are some tips that can help as you create and submit your application.

Getting Started

·     If you experience a problem or receive an error code message, take a screenshot so that you can share it with someone who will assist you in resolution. This makes it easier to identify the issue.

·     We recommend completing your application on a laptop or desktop computer, using the Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browsers.

Completing Your Application

·     When you log into the Funding Portal, you must enter the last 6 digits of the applicant's Social Security number.

·     Do you need to update your contact information to add an email address? First, open the application, then check "yes" at the circle located just below the prefilled gray area. At this point, you will be able to enter your email address.

·     We recommend entering information into the application manually (i.e., do not cut and paste information).

·     Make sure that the selected Funding Categories comply with eligible items and services, and that the amount requested is correct.

Submitting Your Application

·     Complete your application, then click "save". Click the "submit" button after you have double-checked all information on your application.

·     If you are reviewing your submitted application in the Portal, it will be marked as "pending approval". If your application has NOT been submitted, it will be marked as "in progress".

·      Only applications that are marked as "In Progress" can be withdrawn and deleted in the WaMS Funding Portal. It is not possible to delete or make changes to an application that has already been submitted. The option to delete an application disappears once it has been submitted. For instructions on how to delete an "In Progress" application, please refer to the "Discard Application" section of the Funding Portal User Guide at https://tinyurl.com/mlmc-funding.
