 Attendance
VDOE is looking closely at student attendance, and we are mandated by the state to monitor unexcused absences. When your child has more than five unexcused absences, we will contact you by phone and/or letter to check in with you about the student absence. As a school we will also contact parents if a student has more than ten excused absences. We realize that students become ill and there are medical issues that may keep a student home for an extended time. When you receive a call, please understand we are following our mandated monitoring and are here to help and support.
What is POG POL?
POG POL is a new initiative in FCPS which tasks every student to create a Presentation of Learning by 2025. POG is Portrait of a Graduate, POL is Presentations of Learning; POG POL provides our students an opportunity to share and celebrate growth and who they are as an individual, by focusing on and using one POG (Communicator, Collaborator, Creative and Critical Thinker, Ethical and Global Citizen, Goal-Directed and Resilient Individual) skill. As students use this skill, they will have opportunities to reflect and speak to “I grew, I can prove it, here’s why it matters!” Our second-grade team is leading this effort at Silverbrook. Stay tuned for more information on POG POL.
