Sunrise Stars Talent Show: Audition forms due this Friday!

Friday, March 10, 6-8pm

All SVES students (K-6) are invited to perform in this FREE PTA event. To be considered for the show, your child must audition. Sign them up in one of two ways: 

  1. Submit an online application
  2. Complete and submit a paper participation form to the envelope outside of Ms. Smith's music room

Audition forms are due Friday, February 17. Auditions will be held Wednesday, February 22, starting at 4:05pm. 

Stay tuned for a volunteer sign up for those interested in helping out. Join us for an evening of dancing, singing, music, and comedy in the school cafeteria!

Presidents Day (Holiday)

As a reminder, all schools and offices will be closed on Monday, February 20, for the Presidents Day holiday.

Show What You Know: T-shirt design contest closes next week!

Wednesday, March 29, 6-8pm

Show What You Know is a FREE PTA event and a SVES tradition where all students demonstrate their knowledge or passion about a favorite subject! All SVES students (K-6) can participate. 

Register your student by Wednesday, March 8. 

Don't forget to submit your design for the 2023 Show What You Know t-shirt. The design should say: “Sunrise Valley Elementary School Show What You Know 2023”, be drawn with black ink on a letter size white piece of paper, and include the student's name, grade, and teacher on the back. Submissions must be turned into the front office by Tuesday, February 21, or scanned and emailed here. Keep a lookout for more information on SWYK in Friday folders this week.

Spelling Bee Recap

This year's Sunrise Valley  Spelling Bee had 44 contestants!  The students  demonstrated great  confidence and poise and we are very proud of all the participants.

The 2023 Spelling Bee Champion is  Amina Samadi, 6th grade.  Amina will advance to the Fairfax County Spelling Bee on March 19th!

1st place runner up, Gia Novell, 5th grade 

2nd place runner up, Krish Sandhir, 2nd grade 

Honorable mention to our 2022 champion, Heidi Gocong, who placed 4th.

Calling All Pianists-Chorus Seeking Accompanist

If you are a trained pianist, and would like to volunteer to accompany our SVES chorus, please reach out to Mrs. Smith at hmsmith@fcps.edu

Typically, the chorus performs for Veteran’s Day, a Winter Concert, and a Spring Concert.  We would love to chat with you!
