Calling all Rising Kindergarten Students

tree

We are collecting names for our rising Kindergarten for 2023-24.  If you have a child who turns 5 by 9/30/23 please contact Sue Holmes, ksholmes@fcps.edu and let her know what your intentions are for Kindergarten next year.  We will be doing a mailing in March with all the registration information.

Importance of Attendance

attendance

Did you know...

  • Regular school attendance in elementary school improves the chances that your child will read on grade level.
  • Chronic absenteeism (missing 18 or more school days per year) is a primary cause of lower academic achievement even when the absences are "excused" or understandable.
  • Students who attend 90% or more of the school year are more likely to graduate from high school on time.

Digital Citizenship Resources

comp

Schools often get questions from parents/caregivers about screen time, cell phones at school, and other digital citizenship related topics.  As a reminder, FCPS has a number of resources to support a shared responsibility model for digital citizenship.  As we look forward to spring, it may be a good time to establish, review, assess/reassess digital expectations and practices.

 Community Resources

The FCPS Digital Citizenship website includes the following resources:

  1. Establishing Expectations at Home
  2. Choosing Developmentally Appropriate Digital Apps, Games and Services
  3. Media Balance and Well-being toolkit
  4. Recorded Webinars, Tip Sheets and more
