100th Day Parade!

Oak View kindergarteners paraded through the halls today, celebrating the 100th day of school!  They wore specially designed shirts with 100 items and hats with 100 dots. They marched to the tune - Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho, 100 days ago, we came to school, and we're so cool, Heigh Ho Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho, Heigh ho!  Former Oak View kindergarten students were delighted that the song has remained the same and they were able to join in with them during the parade. This is a special and unique Oak View tradition and we are proud of all our students for being 100 days smarter today!

Book Swap Bingo - TONIGHT

Oak View in collaboration with the Oak View PTA is thrilled to announce the return of Book Swap Bingo! This is a fun-filled evening of fast-moving bingo with the best prizes, books! All families are invited to attend this free event and the only item you need to bring with you are a few books you would like to share with others. These donated books then become the prizes for the evening and you will leave with books that are new to you and your family! We have guest staff callers and a real-life bingo ball cage - it is a lot of fun! Join us on tonight, February 13 in the cafeteria between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The February PTA meeting will be held just prior to this event at 5:45 p.m. See you there!

Spring Birthday? Consider a Birthday Book

Does your child have a spring birthday? We invite you to donate a book to our school library in your child’s honor during their birthday month! The book you purchase will receive a bookplate inside indicating the book was purchased in honor of your child’s birthday. Please see current wish list and book purchasing guidelines listed in Friday Folder Flyer linked here

You are also welcome to purchase the book from any local bookstore. Bard’s Alley, Scrawl Books, and One More Page Books would all be willing to order and ship books.

If you wish to purchase something not on this list, please email our school librarian, Mrs. Atkins first (mfatkins@fcps.edu). All books in the library must follow the acquisitions guidelines from FCPS.

This is a completely optional activity and one we thank you for considering. All student birthdays are recognized at Oak View through their name on the morning announcements and a post card and birthday pencil from administration. Oak View does not permit food celebrations due to severe and life-threatening food allergies. This invitation will be run at the start of each month!

Friday Spirit Days - Wear Green and Gold!

Oak View encourages all students to wear our school colors, green & gold, every Friday! This is a simple way we can show our community spirit and love for all things Oak View! Spirit wear is encouraged and welcome or simply wear your green and gold. Make a plan with friends and see how many of you can participate! Staff often wear their green and gold or Spirit Wear on Fridays! We have loved seeing how many more students are participating each week - thank you for your support!
