Message from Ms. Kearns

Dear Lake Braddock Families,

What a week!  Bruin nation was filled with celebrations!  The theatre program opened their amazing musical, Into the Woods, last night!  There is still time to get tickets at LBTheatre.com and see a show tonight or tomorrow!  We were also fortunate enough to celebrate Cat Phelps as the Lake Braddock Pyramid Outstanding New Teacher and Ms. Olson as the Outstanding Professional Employee!  Ms. Phelps and Ms. Olson are amazing, and Lake Braddock is so lucky to have them with us!

Mid-week, our High School was able to come together to celebrate our seniors from Winter Sports and Theatre. Some members of the band started us off with a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem while our JROTC presented the flags. After celebrating our students, we partook in some fun games while the band played. Congrats to Ms. Pritchett for winning the student/staff Knockout game! Stay tuned for more information on the upcoming April pep rally highlighting Stress Less week.

We hope you are able to enjoy this long weekend and recharge as we get closer to March.

Go Bruins!

Lindsey Kearns

Murphy

Why not round out this week of Love with a story about "legacy" families involving our very own MS Science teacher Mr. Murphy! Within FCPS, there are many married couples and "legacy" families. Beth (left), Todd (center), and their daughter Megan (right) all work as FCPS teachers. What do families like the Murphys love about the school division that keeps them all employed here? Find out on the Employee News Blog.

Healthy Relationships with People and Substances-February Newsletter

Relationships are important components in the development of living a fulfilling life. Valentine’s day occurs in the month of February, causing a frenzy of purchases and planning between loved ones to show appreciation and love. Forming and maintaining healthy relationships is difficult but vital for those in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. Healthy relationships are a factor in helping people maintain sobriety (Addiction Center). Bonds and companionship provide emotional support and are effective in increasing health and wellbeing. Emotional support decreases fears and helps people to thrive.

Please see the News from the Substance Abuse Specialist page on our website for more on this topic.
