FEB. 16 IS FAMILY SCIENCE NIGHT AT KEENE MILL

The Children’s Science Center Lab is bringing its Family Science Night Program to Keene Mill Elementary School on Thursday, Feb. 16 from 6:30-7:30 PM. Family Science Night offers a variety of engaging, hands-on science activities such as: Stacking Currency: Financial Literacy, Magnets at Work: Everyday Uses, It’s All Relative: Exploring Gravity in Space, among many others. These experiments are specially designed to help encourage students to take interest in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) subjects, as well as to encourage students to develop curiosity in everyday life situations. Young children are natural scientists, rationally making observations, testing hypotheses, analyzing data and reaching conclusions. Join us on Thursday, Feb. 16 to help keep our students engaged and excited about STEM subjects. We hope to see you there!

GET READY, KANGAS! THE BOOK FAIR IS COMING, MARCH 6-10

The annual Scholastic Book Fair kicks off with a preview day on Monday, March 6, when classes come in to see which books are available. Sales start Monday evening in the school library from 5:30-7:30 PM with a special author appearance at Keene Mill. Daily daytime sales will begin on Tuesday, March 7 through Friday, March 10. The Book Fair will be open from 9 AM-4 PM each day. (Please note: Because of policy changes at Scholastic Books, tax will be charged on all purchases this year.) This is a significant undertaking for our school and an event the students look forward to all year, so volunteers are needed and appreciated! Volunteers will help at the registers, organize inventory, assist students, and staff the novelty items area. Please click the following link to sign up if you are able to help, and thank you!
