After School Clubs at Halley

Halley ES and the Halley PTO are excited to announce that we will be offering clubs for our hornets after school beginning Wednesday, February 22nd.

The number and type of clubs vary due to the space limitations at school and volunteers willing/able to coordinate and facilitate the activities.

*We are still working to recruit afterschool opportunities for primary students.

 Robotics (Grades 3 – 5)https://givebutter.com/tOm8TH

If your child enjoys STEAM and building, this will be a great match! The purpose of the club is to offer students an opportunity to have fun and learn about robotics through Legos. During club meetings, the students will learn to use the components of the kits to build robots. Problem solving and critical/creative thinking skills will be emphasized. Students will be provided with meaningful, practical opportunities to apply science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) concepts through robotics. The afterschool club will allow for fun, hands on learning through real life problem solving.

Yoga (3 – 6) https://givebutter.com/Eh2E8q

Yoga Club is an opportunity for students to learn basic yoga poses, breathing techniques, and mindfulness practices to help manage stress, improve emotional regulation, enhance concentration, increase self-awareness, and develop strength & flexibility.   Participants should dress comfortably.

Gaming Club (3 – 6) - https://givebutter.com/EKzyp4

This club will play fun strategy games that encourage students to think outside of the box!  Broad games, coding games, partner games, online gaming – this club is games galore!  If you like to be a critical and creative thinker, then this club will be a great one for you!

Step-Up Club! (4 – 6) -  https://givebutter.com/n0s5aN

Let’s get stepping Hornets!  Does your child enjoy rhythmic movements and fun with peers?  Try something new and sign your child up for Halley's after-school step program.  "Stepping" is an activity that involves rhythmic syncopation and simple dance moves with an emphasis on upper and lower body movements.  This program will be facilitated by one of our Halley teachers who is full of zest and energy.

How will this work?

  •  Students may sign up for 1 club
  • The clubs have limited capacity and will require you to sign up via the Give Butter Application.
  • Clubs will last for 6, 7, or 8 sessions.
  • Each club will be $55.00.  Please email Klpeerman@fcps.edu for scholarship support.
  • After you sign up, a staff member will reach out to you regarding any necessary information, including club end-dates, or supplies.
  • The goal is for clubs to start Wednesday, February 22, 2023, from 4:15pm – 5:15pm.
  • There will be some bus transportation available. Parent transportation is appreciated and encouraged.

Girls on the Run (GOTR) will run Mondays and Wednesdays.  GOTR has its own Registration Process and fee schedule.  Please see the flier below!
