The salad bar returns to the Floris Cafeteria on Wednesday, March 1. Please see below for details.

Please remember that next Thursday is a two-hour early release (3/2), and Friday there is no school for the Staff Development Day (3/3). All staff will be participating in several professional development sessions.

National Nutrition Month

National Nutrition Month and Salad Bar Return

National Nutrition Month® is an annual campaign created by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. During the month of March, everyone is invited to learn about making informed food choices and developing healthful eating and physical activity habits.

Salad bars have been missing from FCPS schools for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. FCPS Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) have been working in phases to get salad bars to all FCPS schools. We are excited to share the salad bar will return to the Floris café in March.

Head Lice (Pediculosis) Guidelines

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) and the Fairfax County Health Department (FCHD) have updated the Head Lice Guidelines in alignment with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The FCHD and FCPS do not support excluding students with live head lice or nits. Additional information and resources can be found on the Lice: Treatment and Prevention page.

International Night

The Floris PTA is thrilled to invite all of our students and families to participate in International Night, which will take place in the Floris Cafeteria on Wednesday, April 19, from 7:00 pm-8:30 pm.

International Night is a celebration of the diversity of our students and families from different parts of the world. It's an event that will showcase many different countries and allow all of our families the opportunity to learn about new cultures and traditions.

We are currently looking for parents to volunteer to host a country of their choice.  Each country will be able to decorate their table and can offer things like traditional cultural items, food, etc.  We are able to accommodate up to 10 countries with a maximum of 2 families hosting each one.

If you would like to volunteer to host a country, please contact

Silvia.yona.22@gmail.com.

TJ Techstravaganza

The 19th annual Techstravaganza will be on May 13, 2023 from 10 AM to 4 PM at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, VA, and we would like to invite your school’s students to attend Techstravaganza.
