FCPS Department of Technology notified all schools that use e-hallpass that the software is being paused at the end of the school day – February 10. Apparently, there is a technology glitch and we do not have a date when it will be reinstated. Therefore, we will return to paper passes starting Monday, February 13.
This means that early dismissal requests are not sent to teachers electronically; paper passes must be delivered individually to classrooms. Requesting a student for checkout without at least an hour’s notice does not guarantee that we can get a pass delivered in a timely manner. We are unable to interrupt instruction by calling a classroom for an early release request.
We ask that all attendance requests – to excuse an illness, early dismissal, etc. – be made no later than 9:00 AM. The best way to let us know is:
Email us at EdisonAttendance@fcps.edu

Fairfax County Public Schools is developing a Special Education Enhancement Plan to help ensure an excellent educational experience for all students with disabilities. As part of this effort, FCPS is seeking feedback from employees, families, and community members on Part 1 of the Draft Special Education Enhancement Plan. Please complete this form by Friday, February 17, to provide input on FCPS’ priorities regarding special education including vision, mission, core values, goals, and objectives.
Thank you in advance for lending your voice to this important work. Visit the Special Education Enhancement Plan webpage for more information

General Meeting
The next PTSA General Meeting will be on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at 7:00 PM. This meeting will be in person, in the school cafeteria. There will be a guest speaker, Mr. Shawn Elliot, a Substance Abuse and Prevention Specialist for FCPS.
Other PTSA Volunteer Needs
We are very grateful to our members who have stepped up to chair a number of our PTSA Committees (https://edisonhsptsa.org/committees/):
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee (Chair, Sarah Thompson)
- Food Pantry Initiatives (Chair, Sheryl Williams)
- Reflections/Arts Education Committee (Chair, Sharon Riley)
- Special Education (Chair, Ellen Mayer-Splain
However, we still need volunteers to chair the following committees:
- Fundraising Committee
- Scholarship Committee
- Volunteer Committee
In addition, we desperately need volunteers to serve as members on all PTSA committees, as well as for the following PTSA-sponsored events and activities:
- Staff Appreciation Luncheon Volunteers (May 2023)
- PTSA Audit Committee Member (July/Aug 2023)
We cannot accomplish all our plans for this year without your help. So please consider volunteering. We thank you in advance!
For more information, please contact PTSA VP for Membership, Makeda Berhane, vp.membership@edisonhsptsa.org.
