Message from Ms. Kearns

Dear Lake Braddock Families,

Bruin nation was especially excited to celebrate both our awesome counselors for National School Counseling Week and our amazing crossing guard, Ms. Bazemore, for Crossing Guard Appreciation day.  There is no small job in such a large school.  Every member of our community here at Lake Braddock contributes an important piece of each student's puzzle.  Our counselors work  to ensure the wellbeing of our students and to help them find their way in the future.  Our crossing guard keeps them safe getting to and from school!

We were so fortunate to have so many successful athletic performances recently, including Madison Bell who scored a perfect 10 in gymnastics.  If you haven't already, click on the link below to check out the Washington Post article with her interview!  A huge congrats to the Gymnastics team for winning the Occoquan Region for the second year in a row!  Our Wrestling team also gave a striking performance, taking home 5th in the Occoquan Region, advancing 5 wrestlers to States! The School Board recognized our student FCCLA President, Skyler Kim, and DECA Student President Camryn Owens at their Board Meeting last night in celebration of CTSO/CTE Month!  We are so proud of all our students and their accomplishments this past week and always!

Go Bruins!

Lindsey Kearns

Congrats to our very own Bruin Madison Bell on scoring a perfect 10!  The Washington Post spoke with her about the big moment--check it out here!  Also be sure to head to our website to see the full Feature on the School Board recognition for our DECA and FCCLA student reps!

Healthy Relationships with People and Substances-February Newsletter

Relationships are important components in the development of living a fulfilling life. Valentine’s day occurs in the month of February, causing a frenzy of purchases and planning between loved ones to show appreciation and love. Forming and maintaining healthy relationships is difficult but vital for those in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. Healthy relationships are a factor in helping people maintain sobriety (Addiction Center). Bonds and companionship provide emotional support and are effective in increasing health and wellbeing. Emotional support decreases fears and helps people to thrive.

Please see the News from the Substance Abuse Specialist page on our website for more on this topic.
