Franklin MS Weekly Update - February 10

Franklin Families and Students,

Good afternoon!

It was a wonderful week at Franklin Middle School and despite what Punxsutawney Phil said on Groundhog Day about the length of winter, it has been nice to see some warm weather today! I continue to be incredibly proud of our students and staff as they bring energy and enthusiasm to our school every day.

This week is National School Counseling Week and I would like to ask all of you to help me recognize the wonderful counselors that we have at Franklin. We are very grateful for everything our Student Services Team does for our students, parents and teachers. Their passion, dedication, and unwavering commitment truly makes a difference in the lives of our students. This week our students had the opportunity to write their counselors a note of gratitude and our staff found many ways to celebrate them and show our appreciation. Please read about our Student Services Team below and join me in saying thank you for their continued support of the Franklin community.

Thank you to the students and families who were able to join us last night for our Virtual Town Hall for Rising 8th Grade Families. If you were unable to attend, we hope you will take the time to view the slideshow, recording, and other resources that have been posted to our parent Schoology site. Please reach out to your student’s counselor if you have any questions about the course registration process.

Finally, we would like to congratulate the 56 FMS students who recently participated in the AMC 8 Math Competition. The AMC 8 is a 25-question, 40-minute, multiple choice examination in middle school mathematics designed to promote the development of problem-solving skills. This contest was given in 1,739 schools and over 70,000 students participated throughout the nation. Locally at our school, the 1st place award went to Swarith Jooluri, Reily Lin and Suleiman Rahimzai and 2nd place was Asya Balci and Graham Tintle. Third place went to Aarman Acharya, Moussa Ahmed, Anirv Ganti, Kahaan Karelia, Jaejune Kwak, Alan Lam, Daleel Muratov, Anjali Rajan and Rehan White. Congratulations to all of the Franklin Falcons who participated!

Any member of the Franklin community can contact me anytime at dpwright@fcps.edu with questions, feedback, or suggestions. Always feel free to reach out if there is anything our team can do to support your student.

Sincerely,

Dustin Wright

Principal
