Parent Support Needed for Arrival & Dismissal
Your support is needed to keep students, families and staff safe during arrival and dismissal. Parent adherence to the guidelines is necessary at this time. While we work with FCPS Safety & Security, Fairfax County Police and VDOT to update procedures, please follow the guidelines below.
McNair Guidelines:

Pedestrians should use crosswalks and sidewalks ONLY. We have noticed students crossing Thomas Jefferson at multiple points without the aid of a crossing guard. This increases the likelihood of a McNair Family member getting seriously hurt.

No pedestrian traffic or parent vehicles in the bus loop. Please remember that the bus loop is only for buses. When parents park in the loop, buses cannot pick-up or drop-off students within their designated run time.

Pedestrians should not walk between cars or buses. It’s easy for a moving vehicle, particularly a bus, to not see someone who is walking in unexpected places when they are on the move. Stick to the sidewalks and established walking paths for safety.

No U-turns on Thomas Jefferson Drive. Families are parking along Thomas Jefferson Drive and walking their child up to the school. Then when leaving, they are making a U-turn to head home. Keep everyone safe and take the longer routine home.

Driving your child to school? Use Kiss & Ride ONLY. Parking in the school parking lot, walking your child to school, and expecting to be let out of the parking lot creates confusion and increases vehicle movement where there is a lot of pedestrian traffic.

Buckle up for safety. When using Kiss & Ride, parents should make sure their child is buckled into their seat before exiting the school.

Please do not use theTownes at Coppermill to avoid Kiss & Ride traffic at McNair. This is causing concerns in the community as it impacts our walkers and homeowners from that neighborhood.
