A message from Principal Steven McFarlane

Kilmer Community,

This past Tuesday we hosted “Rising 7th Grade Curriculum Night Open House.” The building was packed, and I loved seeing our future Kilmer students in the building. I also saw many current and former Kilmer students helping their siblings and friends by acting as unofficial tour guides. What stood out to me was the excitement from former, current, and rising Kilmer students. It’s clear that this community is special, and kids truly feel connected to this place.

Just as we welcomed rising Kilmer students this past Tuesday, Marshall HS is doing the same thing for rising 9th graders on Tuesday, 2/7 from 6-8 pm. Additionally, we (Kilmer) are hosting Marshall counselors during the school day on Monday and Tuesday to meet with all current Kilmer 8th graders attending Marshall next year. If you haven’t already, this is a great time to start talking with your student about what courses they’re interested in taking next year.

Lastly, next week is National School Counseling Week. Kilmer’s counselors are an amazing group that work tirelessly to support students. I encourage you to speak with your student about possibly sending their counselor a note of gratitude. These personal notes go a long way.

I hope everyone has a great weekend, and as always, reach out if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Steven McFarlane

Principal
