Book Character Day

Get Ready for Book Character Day on Friday, March 10^th!

Students are encouraged to dress up like a school-appropriate character from a book of their choice on Friday, March 10th. Remember that toy weapons of any kind are not appropriate and violate FCPS Student Rights and Responsibilities. In celebration of Read Across America, we will also hold our annual book giveaway during all library classes that week!

Parent/Guardian Class Lunch Visits

Parents are invited to join their student(s) for a special lunch at school on an assigned day! This is a great opportunity for parents to come in for lunch with their child. Please see below for the scheduled lunches by teacher.

Upcoming Parent Lunch Dates 

We encourage parents to eat the same lunch as their child either packed or purchased. On the day of your child’s lunch, please arrive 5-10 minutes early so you can sign-in at the office. All lunches will be hosted in room 249. If you choose to buy lunch from the cafeteria, adult pricing is $4.50 and may be paid in cash. Click here for more information on purchasing lunch.

BUpper Weekly Parent Conversations

Families: Please Join Us Virtually on February 6th for Wellness Night

Please join school counselors, Maya Lidell and Derek Ryan, on February 6^th to learn about attendance in the winter. Autumn Levasseur, Public Health Nurse, and Pat Humphrey, Attendance Intervention Specialist will join us to discuss when to keep your child home and when to send to school.

Weekly Parent Conversations will occur virtually on Mondays, 7:00pm – 8:00pm. The themes will cover wellness, math, and language arts. Specific topics will be announced the Friday before in News You Choose.

Upcoming Assessments:

Many students took their reading and listening WIDA assessments (for English Language Learners) this week.  Next week, students will take the writing portion of the WIDA test.

Monday February 6^th: 5^th Grade Writing

Tuesday February 7^th: 4^th Grade Writing

Friday February 10^th: 3^rd Grade Writing

Beginning Monday, February 13^th the ESOL team will assess students on the WIDA speaking domain in small groups.
