Dear Poplar Tree Families,

We wanted to make sure you were all aware of Tutor.com! FCPS students are able to get learning help at any time, even from bilingual tutors! Students in FCPS meet with tutors thousands of times each week to practice reading, prepare for an upcoming math test, write computer programs, study for the SAT, or to get feedback on scholarship essays–all at no cost to their families! If you haven’t already, we encourage you to take just a few minutes to connect with a tutor with your child. Learn how to get to Tutor.com through Schoology by watching THIS VIDEO by one of our Tech Squad members, Alex!

More info about Tutor.com in FCPS is available here.

Have a wonderful weekend!

School Counselors:

Helping Students Dream Big!

National School Counseling Week

February 6-10 2023

National School Counseling Week 2022 is sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA).  It’s a great opportunity for us to remind you how we as school counselors can support your children here at school.

We are committed to providing services to our school community that will promote the academic and social/emotional growth of our students as part of a comprehensive counseling program. The counseling program supports and complements the efforts of classroom teachers to facilitate your child’s learning and includes individual and small group counseling that target specific skill-teaching as well as classroom lessons to promote academic growth and emotional resiliency. Our services focus on students’ strengths and abilities and are designed to remove the barriers to academic achievement and promote student success. We are also happy to meet with you regarding any behavioral, academic, or social/emotional questions or concerns you may have. We will work as a team to address the individual needs of your child!

Contact us for more information about our program and how we can help.

🗣️ Talk About It Tuesday! 🗣️

This year, at Poplar Tree, we are focusing on helping our students be good Communicators and Collaborators

Check out the video below where we watch Ms. Perlish's class work together to "get off the island" and discuss what makes them good collaborators!

PTES Auction, Class Basket & Talent Show!

Planning is underway for our 2023 Auction!

This annual fundraising event assists the PTA in funding various school needs, including but not limited to music and art programs, classroom materials, library author visits, new software technology for our students, staff appreciation opportunities, and so much more.

  • If you have the time to assist the auction team in soliciting items for the auction, any help would be appreciated. It is very low-key - we have a letter template you can send to businesses that are already pre-populated on a list!
  • There's SO MUCH TALENT in our community... If you're a woodworker and would like to donate a furniture piece, or you make clothing, or you have a lawn service, or would like to donate some time to help landscape, and the list goes ON and ON!! This would be a GREAT opportunity to showcase your talents!
  • If you own a local business and are able to donate a gift card or service, please contact us! Our community would love to support your business via social media as a thank-you for your donation. Please email a logo along with your donation so we can support your business just as you have supported our school.
