WOODSON CLUBS & ACTIVITIES

Woodson Chorus

Dessert on Broadway

Thank you to the Woodson Choral Department, the choral booster parents, and our amazingly talented kids for a top-notch Dessert on Broadway weekend.

The 34th year of this awesome Broadway revue was a great success. Audience members laughed, cried, and resisted the urge to get up and dance! Over 1,000 tickets were sold for the three performances this weekend.

Thank you to the Woodson community for their support. You can next catch Woodson Chorus perform at their Pre-Assessment Concert in the Woodson Auditorium at 7PM on Thursday, March 9th.

Woodson Winter Guard

Congratulations to the Woodson Winter Guard in their first competition this past Saturday. Woodson walked away with a First Place finish in their division out of 13 other winter guard teams.

Come out and support the team for their next competition this Saturday, 4th of February at Patriot HS (10504 Kettle Run Road, Nokesville, VA 20181).  Woodson’s scheduled performance time is 12:30pm. CAVS SPORTS

Spring Tryout Information

Varsity Updates

Girls Basketball

The Lady Cavs delivered a 52-33 victory over Fairfax on Senior Night. Emma Komaily led scoring with 25 points followed by Annie Madison with 9 and Jada Ramos-Diggs with 7. Sabina Niedrick was the chairwoman of the boards, pulling down 9 rebounds.

South County defeated Woodson 75-56 on Friday. Sabina Niedrick scored 17 points in three quarters of action, Emma Komaily added 11 points, while Brooke Godlove contributed a feisty 10 points and 5 rebounds. After a defenseless first quarter, Julia Oleyar amped up the Red Room crowd by taking a hard charge to blunt a run by the Stallions.

Ice Hockey

The team celebrated its seniors on Friday night when it took on top ranked Washington Liberty.  The team controlled the game until late in the third period.  Unfortunately, Washington Liberty scored a late goal to take a 5 to 4 lead and then got an empty netter to make the final score 6 to 4. Everett Liu (TJ) led scorers for our team with two goals. Matt Reinke also scored a goal with Derek Hanson assisting on two and senior Will Wo also getting an assist.

On Sunday night, the team dropped its final regular season against high-powered Forest Park/Hylton, 9 to 3. The team was missing several key players due to the game being played on a non-traditional Sunday night instead of Friday night and had trouble matching up with the speed and power of the Forest Park/Hylton team.  Henry Persky, Matt Reinke, and Sam Walker (Robinson) scored goals for the team, with Carson Edington, Antonio Nevano (Robinson) and Seth Bond (Robinson) providing assists.

The varsity team will play again in the first round of the playoffs on Friday, February 10th.  Details are still to be announced.  Meanwhile, the Junior Varsity will play on Friday, February 3rd against Hayfield/South County.  The game is at The St James.  Puck drop is at 8:20 and as always, admission is free.

Hockey Seniors

Woodson Seniors:  Will Wo, Matt Reinke, Ian Santamauro, and Nathan Coons

Swim & Dive

The Woodson girls team, who finished the regular season undefeated, is now also the Patriot District Champions! This past weekend’s District meet was an exciting two days, with many swimming their best times and making regional and state cuts.

Congratulations to our District champs in the individual events: Ava Craig in the 200 Free, Jillian Ferrari in the 50 Free and 100 Back, and Lien Nguyen in the 500 Free. And Nathaniel Grannis finished as the District Dive champion.

In addition, the girls 400 Free Relay team of Ava Craig, Catherine McClure, Brigid Donohoe and Jillian Ferrari won their relay, while also setting the Patriot District Record.

Next up this weekend, Regionals at the Oak Marr Rec Center. Friday, Feb 3 is the Swim and Dive Regional Prelims, starting at 5:30pm. With the Finals on Saturday, Feb 4 at 5:30pm.

The first five inclement weather days will be traditional “snow days” with no school activities. After those five days, FCPS will use the flexibility provided by the Virginia General Assembly to have unscheduled virtual learning days, whenever possible, to maintain the continuity of learning. Virtual learning on these days will be synchronous/live instruction, following the inclement weather virtual learning day schedule (includes a two-hour delay).

  • Wednesday - 2:55pm - 4:00pm (when late buses start)

Any other time you should try to make an appointment using a ticket from the Support Portal.

Late buses are available Tuesdays and Wednesdays through spring. Students may stay after school to participate in clubs/activities and/or receive academic intervention with teachers.

Tuesday and Wednesday late buses start loading around 4:45pm and depart from Woodson at approximately 5:15pm. Students who access the smaller bus runs need to sign up for a bus in Room F122 before lunch each late bus day.

Please note, students may NOT go across the street to the shopping center after school and then return for the late bus.

Student Parking Passes

There are 2 steps to purchase a student parking pass: 1) Complete the Parking Permit Application  2) Pay on MySchoolBucks. Navigate to the School Store, select the option for a parking permit, and check out.  Bring your printed receipt with you when picking up your permit.
