BMP Family Board Game Night

Family Board Game Night was a huge success!  Many thanks to our families who came together to have fun.  This event was funded by Title 1 and coordinated by our Student Counsel Association (SCA).

FCPS Cares

Do you know of a staff member who has gone above-and-beyond for others?  Or someone who you really appreciate?  We invite you to take a few minutes to submit your story or share your thank you through FCPS Cares.  The FCPS CARES Program is an opportunity for parents, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care.

Thank you families!

Thank you to our families and community members who have donated coffee and tea for our wonderful teachers.  You have helped warm our hearts during this cold season!

Specialist Spotlight:

Mustang artists have been very busy with clay, collage, and printmaking  in the art room recently!  Our 5th grade artists have begun a unit focusing on global architecture design and transferring their ideas into a multi-layered collage.  4th grade artists have been working with clay and using different coil techniques to create unique vessels.  3rd grade artists have brainstormed what celebrations and holidays are important to their culture and creating a collage depicting it.  2nd graders learned about collagraph printmaking and created a series of community collagraph prints.  First grade artists have created a clay cupcake and are now working on paper house sculptures.  Our kindergarten artists have completed a city collage focusing on details, and are now planning a painting showing our favorite season.  Multi-age artists have practiced printmaking using gelli plates and Styrofoam.

It is important to let students explore many different art media to express themselves.  Some are more challenging than others, and each one helps us become a bit more mentally flexible!

Portrait of a Graduate

Portrait of a Graduate (POG) acknowledges that in our changing world, education needs to fulfill our mission of supporting student success in school and in life. POG prioritizes skills that empower students to be productive citizens of a global community and successful in the future workforce.

One POG attribute is Goal-Directed and Resilient Individual.  You can support your child in developing this attribute by helping your child engage in activities such as:

  • Set goals for a day, week or year
  • Talk about what they can do to meet their goal (set aside a time of day, etc.)
  • Goals can be around number of books or page to reading, keeping a room clean, or the number of math problems they can get right
  • Help your child reflect on if they are meeting the goal
