From the Principal's Desk:
We are excited to share some updates regarding our #ONEKindActVienna Madison pyramid campaign. Each month, students continue to participate in discussions and activities that promote and highlight kindness themes. In February, we will be engaging our students in thinking around the sixth ONE kindness campaign topic of positive relationship skills. In addition, student Kindness Cards from our kindness wall are shared biweekly on our WLATV morning show, highlighting student kind acts.
We want everyone to be able to participate in kindness! So, we are having a Madison pyramid-wide kindness spirit week from February 13-17. Students are invited to wear specific colors each day and we've also provided some ideas for an act of kindness on each day. Please see the flyer below for more details.
In addition, we are excited to share the opening of our Community ONE Store to further our campaign of One School, One Community, One World. This store is selling #ONEKindActVienna apparel in school colors. A portion of all sales will be given back to the town of Vienna by supporting local food pantries, homeless shelters, and other organizations that work with families in need. See more information and the link to the ONE store below.
Together, let's continue to spread kindness at Louise Archer, the Vienna community, and beyond!

Super Bowl Canned Food Drive! – February 6-10
To celebrate the Super Bowl, The Junior Optimist Club is holding a canned food drive to support our Vienna community. In the front of school, there will be 2 boxes. One for the Kansas City Chiefs and one for the Philadelphia Eagles. Students should bring in their canned food and place it in the box of who they think will win the Super Bowl. On Friday, February 10th, cans will be counted, and the Louise Archer winner prediction will be announced. We can’t wait to see which team Louise Archer thinks will win! (other non-perishable foods will also be accepted).
Community ONE Store
In order to further our campaign of One School, One Community, One World, we invite you to purchase apparel in support of our movement at this site. A portion of all sales will be given back to the town of Vienna by supporting local families in need. All merchandise will be delivered from DMV Tees directly to the purchaser. There are many style options in a variety of colors that support all of our schools.

With Tutor.com through Schoology, FCPS students are able to get learning help at any time, even from bilingual tutors! Students in FCPS meet with tutors thousands of times each week to practice reading, prepare for an upcoming math test, write computer programs, study for the SAT, or to get feedback on scholarship essays–all at no cost to their families! If you haven’t already, we encourage you to take just a few minutes to connect with a tutor with your child. More info about Tutor.com in FCPS is available here.
Preparing for Winter Weather
Winter weather will be here before you know it! Watch this video to see how weather-related closing decisions are made.
FCPS’ inclement weather procedures will remain the same as last year. The first five inclement weather days will be traditional “snow days” with no school activities. After those five days, we will use the flexibility provided by the Virginia General Assembly to have unscheduled virtual learning days, whenever possible, to maintain the continuity of learning. Virtual learning on these days will be synchronous/live instruction, following the inclement weather virtual learning day schedule (includes a two-hour delay).
FCPS’ website is generally the first mode of communication during emergency weather closings. Other communication channels will be used as quickly as possible including email, text, social media, and news stations. Learn more about how schedule changes are communicated
2-Hour Delayed Opening Procedures
If there is a two-hour delayed school opening, students can begin to come into the building starting at 11am. The late bell rings at 11:15am. We do not have supervision prior to 11am, so you may not drop off your child before this time, as they will be unattended. Please consider your options for this situation in advance, as we may encounter this during the winter months.
