Hello Shrevewood Families,
It is hard to believe that we are already halfway through the 2022-2023 school year! It's true what they say, time really does fly when you're having fun.
Thank you so much to our PTA and all of our families who donated snacks and goodies for our staff on Wednesday. It was a great way to jump start our professional learning these past two days. Our very own Dr. Price and Ms. Daniels led our instructional staff in learning more about Reflex Math during the early dismissal on Wednesday.
Today, Shrevewood was recognized with the FCPS 2022 Award of Communication Excellence. This award celebrates the creation of excellent website, newsletter, and social media content that informs and engages readers. We were honored to be only one of five winning schools, which is quite an accomplishment!
Have a fabulous weekend!
Sincerely,
Joshua DeSmyter, Principal
Katie Vandawalker, Assistant Principal

At their January 17 work session, the School Board discussed draft calendars that were created for the 2023-24, 2024-25, and 2025-26 school years. Draft calendars were developed using the following criteria as a framework:
- Federal, state, and Virginia Department of Education guidance.
- Superintendent’s priorities.
- School Board input.
- Student absentee data.
- Staff absentee data.
- Surrounding jurisdictions’ calendars.
- Survey results.
- Calendar Feedback Committee input.
You may view the draft calendars and other related documents in Boarddocs. The calendars will be presented as new business during the School Board meeting on Thursday, January 26. The Board is scheduled to vote on the calendars during their meeting on Thursday, February 9.

A student transfer is valid for one year only. A parent or guardian must submit a renewal application each year for student transfer consideration. A renewal application may be submitted for students who continue to meet the same student transfer criteria as indicated on the original student transfer request. For students no longer meeting the same student transfer criteria, a new transfer request must be submitted.
All students will be considered eligible for student transfer renewal unless the principal indicates a student is not eligible for renewal or the transfer type does not allow for renewal e.g. graduating, moving from one level to another, or family relocation.
Letters from the principal will be automatically generated from the online student transfer application in February for students eligible and not eligible for renewal and sent to the enrolling parents primary email address.
For detailed information regarding the renewal process, please visit the Online Student Transfer Application: Renewal Process webpage
The Magnet Program registration window will be open from Wednesday, March 1, through Wednesday, April 12, 2023. No late applications are accepted.
