ANG Silent Auction Coming Soon

ANG 2023 new QR code

All Night Grad is holding a silent auction and virtual 50/50 raffle in February and is looking for donations. If you have items to donate or are willing to solicit items from local businesses, please contact Susan Malkus at smalkus86@gmail.com or email ANG@fairfaxptsa.org. Items that have sold well in the past include:

  • Local sports/concert/theater tickets (if you are a season ticket holder)
  • Sports memorabilia (signed jerseys, baseballs, etc.)
  • Photography sessions (for senior pictures)
  • Vacation property weekends
  • Activity passes (like escape rooms, ropes courses, iFly, etc.)
  • Theme baskets (like coffee, chocolate, dog owners, Mother's Day, etc.)
  • Gift cards from restaurants, nail salons, etc. 
  • Student crafted items
  • Donations from local jewelers, artisans, etc. 

Donating businesses/families will be acknowledged on the silent auction site and we will provide business information (website URL, photos, etc.) as they are provided.


FHS Staff Appreciation

Staff Appreciation

This year’s Staff Appreciation Luncheon and Raffle will be on March 8, 2023. We want to ensure that this event is special, and our teachers and staff know how much they are appreciated! There are many opportunities to volunteer and donate to this event: FHS Staff Luncheon Volunteer Signup.

The PTSA provides lunch from 2 local food trucks, and we are seeking donations to cover the cost. Monetary donations can be made at: PTSA Member Hub.

Food: We are also looking for donations of desserts, beverages, and other grab and go items. Last year we ran out of desserts, and we’d like to have enough this year! Donated food items can be left in the FHS Office no later than Monday, March 6, 2023. Please label any items for Staff Appreciation Lunch! (Any surplus, packaged foods will be used by our school counselors and leadership students during Wellness Week in April or donated to the FHS Food Pantry.) FHS Staff Luncheon Volunteer Signup.

Raffle: We are seeking donations of gift baskets from individuals, groups or businesses or other donated items such as gift cards to raffle. Our goal is to have something for EACH of our wonderful staff members! FCPS-FCPD Youth Substance Use Presentations

Family Resource

 

FCPS is dedicated to providing parents and community members with the most accurate and up-to-date information on youth substance use, prevention, addiction, interventions, and available supports.

Please join us and our partners from the Fairfax County Police Department and Community Services Board as we discuss these topics as well as the ongoing opioid crisis.

Attendees will walk away with an understanding of:

  • Alcohol, nicotine, cannabis, and opioid.
  • What you can do as a caregiver.
  • How to identify and connect with community resources.

These presentations are being held in each high school pyramid though March. FHS will host the event Monday, January 30 from 6-8pm, in the Library.

A virtual presentation in partnership with FCPS Parent Resource Center will be held on Tues, March 21 from 10:00-11:30am. All sessions are for adults only.

Fairfax Academy Open House

Fairfax Academy for Communication & the Arts  will hold an open house for interested students on February 7. A high school academy is a center within a high school that offers advanced specialized courses that can prepare students for postsecondary education and/or career fields. Fairfax Academy is located within Fairfax High School. Students enrolling in Academy elective courses will be provided with opportunities to participate in a variety of career experiences including shadowing, mentoring, and/or internships with local businesses. Free Teen After School Program through Fairfax County

Teen After School Program

 

The Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services is offering free recreation and leisure programming for teens at the Mott Community Center. There is a bus from Fairfax High School that drops off at the Mott center each school day and teens can enjoy food, leisure, fitness, STEAM and other activities until 6pm. We are happy to welcome individuals of all abilities and backgrounds. There is also no commitment to a minimum number of days, or even time that teens stay each day. Families may register for their teen to attend by creating an account at FairfaxNCS - Registration System (usedirect.com).

A representative from Congressman Gerry Connolly’s office will also be there to talk about the nomination process. The format of the program will be brief  introductions (3-5 minutes) from each Academy and ROTC Representative, followed by break-out tables for students and parents/guardians to ask individual questions.

2023 Gap Year Fair for Students and their Families, Feb 1

FCPS School Counseling Services and Go Overseas are co-hosting the annual FCPS Gap Year Fair on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. at West Springfield High School.

This event is for high school students and parents who are interested in learning more about the growing array of gap year opportunities. The evening will begin with a presentation in the auditorium from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m., by Julia Rogers, Founder of EnRoute Consulting and Gap Year Association Board President. Immediately following, the program fair will be in the cafeteria from 7:15 to 9:00 p.m., with representatives from over 40 programs offering gap year opportunities. Students and their families are invited to meet the representatives and learn about the variety of experiences available.
