What's Happening at Mount Eagle
January 20, 2023
Early Dismissal Next Wednesday
We will be halfway through the school year next Wednesday when the second quarter ends. Dismissal will be at 1:30pm. If your kindergartner or preK student is a bus rider, please be sure to have someone meet your child at the bus around 1:35pm.
There is no school for students on Thursday and Friday. Teachers will be here working on progress reports, planning and learning. We'll see everyone back at school on Monday, January 30th at 8:30am.
The Salad Bar Returns!
We are all excited to have the salad bar back in our cafeteria beginning next Wednesday, January 25.
How can you help your child?
You can watch this video together to review the five rules of the salad bar. You can also review the menu found here to go over what items will be available so that your child can think about what they might want. Please remind your child to use the hand sanitizer that will be at the end of the bar and to always use two hands when holding their tray.
How can you help us here?
If you have time to help in the first few weeks, we'd love to have you volunteer. We will need help during lunch for our students in grades K, 1 & 2 between 10:30-11:30am. Please email Ms. Consolla at jtconsolla@fcps.edu with your availability.
Is School Open? Delayed?
January and February are months where we see the most weather events that impact school. Always check www.fcps.edu for the latest information if you are not sure if school is open or delayed. Remember, when there is a 2-hour delay, Mount Eagle students will come to school beginning at 10:20am. Do not drop off before that.

Grade 6 Students: Climate Survey
During the week of January 23, students in Grade 6 will complete the online Virginia Climate Survey. The survey does not ask for your child’s name and all answers are anonymous. No one, including teachers or administrators, will know how your child answered the survey. You will not have access to your child’s survey answers even as their parent or guardian.
You may review the questions asked in the student survey at this website: https://tinyurl.com/VaSchoolSurvey.
The survey will ask questions such as how students feel about their school, how students get along with one another and their teachers, how students feel about school rules, and their perceptions of their teachers’ willingness to help them. Students will also be asked what kinds of bullying they may have observed during school and whether they have been bullied themselves.
If you do not want your child to participate, please email Ms. Consolla in your home language by Friday, January 20th at jtconsolla@fcps.edu.

Be Here, Be On Time! 8:30am
Unless your child is ill, we need them at school everyday. When they are absent, they miss out on valuable learning. Plan to arrive at campus by 8:30am if you are walking or driving. Breakfast is available to students who are on time. Thank you!

Your Partners In Education
We are honored to work with your family this year and will work everyday to ensure a safe and positive learning environment for your child. We can't do it alone. Please contact us when there is a question or concern, especially related to bullying. As a parent, you will often hear about something before staff might. Thank you for all your support.
